View Full Version : how did you instal your after market tank ?

hi every body i just bought a new sportster tank on tc bros for my xs650 i want to know how did you fix the back of the tank ? for the moment i just weld the front part to bolt the front (first pic) but for the rear what can i do ? im worry about drill the frame to put the bolt ... i you have advice it would be nice ! 44698

I bought an inch think rod that came with a 1/4 hole thru it. drilled the frame where I needed it and welded it in. had to drill out the hole a bit for the tank bolt. im no pro, but i think thats how its done.

Drill a hole, weld in a bung, get a leather or rubber washer and bolt 'er down.

It's not an aftermarket tank, but this might help. I fabbed some bungs, drilled the backbone and welded them in.

As you can See in the Photo above you can adjust the right high of the bung with a long screw in it.

I drilled a hole just like the picture above and inserted a coupling nut which I then weld around it
