I'm sure all of y'all are suuuuuper stoked to see another sportster, but here goes.

I've been creepin the forums for a while now and decided to make an account now that I'm starting a build. Before this I was riding a triumph for a while, but was ready to switch things up. After some thought I settled on a Sportster just because of the limited funds I had and also because this was going to be my daily rider, I wanted something that wouldn't skip a beat.

My good buddy Evan opened a fabrication shop in Long Beach, CA called Iron Cobras about a year ago so I'm stoked to finally get him working on my bike. He's going to be fabricating most of the parts (pipes, oil tank, midsets, sissy, etc..) I Haven't decided on a lot of things but I'm open to any suggestions or thoughts :cheersmate:

Found this 2000 883C with only 2,000 miles! It was a great deal and will (hopefully) be less of a headache than if I had bought a worn to shit scoot. We'll see...

Started tearin it up. Since I haven't decided on what the bike is gonna look like, we're just gonna work from the back to front and play it by ear.

You can see the hardtail in this pic, was really looking forward to getting my hands on the new Haifley kit, but Doug said it wouldn't be out for a month or two, bummer.

I was actually really surprised with the alignment, it was spot on

Tacked on some plugs for the seat tubes

And that's it for now. Got a spoked wheel for the rear and some new rubber (firestone in the rear, speedmaster up front). Some other parts came in as well, but we're gonna wait till next week to get into it. Off to Hazzard County in the am, yeewwwwp!

Damn 3 weeks since the last update. Things have been getting busy with the holidays + work and all, but we've just about got the rear end sorted out.

The bike right now:

The hardtail kit I used retains the stock slanted seat tube so spacing for an oil tank was a little weird. I really didn't want to go with a cylinder type, so evan welded up this horseshoe tank. I think it came out fucking rad.

Impaler sissy bar, probably my favorite part on the bike right now aside from the oil tank. Going to be adding a taillight and license plate bracket onto it soon

Trimmed up the the fender and mounted the sissy

That's it for now. Next up on the list: start on the seat, fab up some mid controls, handlebars, shave legs, chop cam cover, exhaust, and wiring.

Got some go bits as well, Hammer Performance 1250cc kit and a Boyle Custom Moto air cleaner. Kind of torn on whether I should wait on installing the kit though, the stock engine only has 2400 miles!

Thanks man! Not really sure, funds are running low so I'm just playing it by ear. Your build is killer by the way, I'm probably gonna do some high pipes as well :cheersmate:

Lookin good so far!
I'd do the motor now. Save the take off cylinders and pistons in case you blow something up or sell the bike.
What this bike needs is a one of my custom made, cloth braided, wire harnesses. Sorry for the cheap plug/thread jack. Hit me up if ya need wires.

Looks tits. I especially dig the oil tank, it's exactly what I had in mind for my hardtail sporty. As far as the motor, I went through that same dilemma. Decided to wait on the top end, cuz if I ain't broke...(well, you know, except for the hardtail)

God damn, such a good start.

Listen, I'm going to sound like a nerd and say, leave the motor!

I'm ALL FOR chopping shit up and tearing into and engine but... only 2k miles!!! Fuck, ride that bitch forever and save the kit till you need it or sell it for some other parts.

can't wait for updates.
