Okay, we saw everyone's Van's (not your loafers, dipshit). I wanna see if ANYONE has an HONEST TO GOD station wagon anymore. These things seemed to disappear off the face of the earth when SUVs come out.
No bull shit modern cross overs, but the real thing -estate wagons like this:

Or better yet, like this:

I don't have one but last weekend we drove by the same '59 chevy wagon sitting for sale like 3 times and the old lady got sick of hearing about how bad I wanted it. I kept telling her, you just wait til we have kids :)

I've been hunting for a wagon for a while. Prices are fucking ridiculous. Have a friend who has a 62 Mercury Meteor for sale that is clean, but I'm really wanting a wagon. I can't wait to see pictures

No hearse here, and no pony tail, either. I can have a sports car, but no girlfriend, so I told her I'll spend all my money on motorcycles. At which point she reminded me that none of the money I earn is technically MINE... wtf?

I put a worked 1500 with a big arse cam and twin dellorto carbies. Sounds like the devil himself is coming for breakfast with all the carby noise at full song. Laugh it up, but yeah a 4cyl can still put out some noise!

Last Fall I finally sold my beloved wagon - 89 Volvo 760 with a ford 302 and T5 from a 93 Mustang. Easy conversion - company that made the motor mounts and bits is/was Converse Engineering. The 200/700 series Volvos were made for that motor - freakin thing fit beautifully in there. Only drawback to the car was limited traction - you couldn't fit much rubber on the rear without doing some major sheetmetal or suspension reworking. But damn was it fun to freak people with that lovely V8 sound and incredible pull from a lowly grocery getter!

Thanks!! Back then (1999), it had a "pro-street" set up rear end, which made it anything but fun to drive.
It's getting a 454/700R4, already has a Camaro front clip (that I need to narrow a smidge), disc brakes all around, and will be getting airbags front and rear.
I plan to leave the body stock. All they really need is to be lowered a bit. Still haven't decided on a color yet, though I'm leaning towards a blue.

Blame demolition derbies on the high prices. Guys still scour the yards for sta-wags. They can throw a nice cage in the rear and have a huge advantage in reverse.

Im not sure with whats going on with this whole Van fad thing, I grew up with Vans, my uncle was a big Van guy, building them for parades, mags and such, There ok, but I just cant grasp what people really like about'em.
BUT
I have always been a huge fan of Wagons and ol' Trucks, super glad that a post was started for these old wagons, certainly not appreciated enough.
Thanks for sharing.

Ha, I had a blue one that a local Surf Shop ( OB Surf Shop) gave me to drive around to deliver goods from the warehouse about 17 or so years ago. I loved that three speed column shifter.

Ha!! Right on, Terry. Not enough panel trucks around, for sure. Oddly enough, the guy I got my truck from bought it from the original owner back in '89, and it had a straight six with a three speed. I kinda wish it was still all stock. But, when I bought it (1995), I really wanted one that had already been fucked with, so that's what I bought. A fucked-with Ford panel truck. I looked for one for about 5 years before I came across this one...
better shot of our 59 wagon, my friends 62, and a nice Dave Mann pic i had saved.

this is a kick in the balls for me. i ran into a 1964 Ford Falcon wagon while i was down in Key West last summer for sale for $3500. it looked like it was in good shape, interior too. i will regret not taking that number down until the day i actually buy an old wagon.
