UPDATED ON PAGE 2

just got through throwing this little bastard together... '79 CB 400 "hawk" (sounds super fast right?) . Well, it was free, and I had 90% of everything I put on it just laying around. everything else was traded for, or bought used, for pretty cheap. I built brackets, mounts, etc outta shit I was gunna throw away... I did splurge a little on the new mikuni's, spokes and tires, prolly the most expensive things about the bike. Here is the crazy thing though, IT ONLY HAD 4700 MILES ON IT !!! the guy told me it had fallen out of the bed of the truck, while going down the road, then it was just parked! It had lots of tweaked parts on it, so I believe it... hadnt been cranked up since 91, changed the gas, oil, and plugs, fired right up. anyways, it made a fun little bike to rip around town on, runs like a top, and I couldn't beat the purchase price!

27x7 maxxis DTR-1. it's a flat-track tire, not exactly D.O.T. legal, but my grandpa always said he thought illegal was just another way of saying "sick bird"

thanks guys, I have a fetish for "shouldered" rims... I actually had these 2 laying around, fronts off an old bultaco dirt bike, and the rear use to be a front for a Yamaha flat tracker. re-cycled, and built on the cheap! the SS spokes, well, thats where shit got expensive!

I'm interested to know myself, it's a CD-5 medium compound, the compounds jump from there all the way to a CD-10, hard... it's definitely softer than the K-180 I'm running on the front. the chick at A&A said a CD-10 would be too hard, but if this one doesn't last, I think I'll take my chances on the next one. thanks for the compliment!

well, it stops.... kinda. only being a 400, it really surprised me, it's snappy around town, and back and fourth to work (only 3 miles), but it's pretty low geared. I have been contemplating switching to a smaller sprocket, but I don't want it to be a gutless turd leaving every stop sign. remember, it's not the size of the bike, it's th.... ahh hell, who am I foolin'...

Is that a coffee cup on the muffler? I did the bars change, and most of the rest. I don't think I am manly enough to rock a pink bike though.

Hahahaha coffee cup... thats a "thunder header" for HD stuff that I cross bred over to a 2 into 1 header. then put a supertrapp inside cause it sounded like an evenrude. gotta man up to sling a leg over a pink bike!

Thats an old 36 hole flat track spool, the light is a Hella off road auxiliary light, bright as shit too.

yeah, I like the first ones too, but after 15 mins of riding, my back was killing me, had me in an awkward position. Since the bar clamps are built into the trees, I need some bars with rise built in, cant find anything that looks "right" and is still comfortable. so I compromised. I'm open to suggestions btw...

I think a set of straight up, old style shorty apes would look better than the ones you've got currently.

Diggin the bike, looks cool and comfy!
