i own a 1995 sportster 883 sportster

I was looking at these
http://www.dan-moto.com/DM_INT/highwayman-2-1-full-system-for-sportster-models-2004-2013-product-991.html

but to get them to fit on my bike (1995) i have to bang them and mod them up and i'd really rather not.

Can anyone suggest me a quality 2 into 1 setup? i just want something slick gets the job done and wont break the bank for a set of pipes. (id like to stay under 400 bucks)

Build your own, or an ebay Suoertrapp. I havent heard too much good out of the Dan Motos. The Patriot Defender is better for your bike.

Why beat them up? I think the brackets are all you'll have to fab.

I was going to suggest Thunderheader until I saw he was on a budget lol... They are pretty proud of those things.

I have an 883 that used to do 'the ton'...i.e. go over 100mph. Did with Screaming Eagle Slips ons and did it with baffled drag pipes.

Then I built a home made 2 into 1 using a trumpet muffler. I don't see the ton any more....she stalls out at about 90 mph. So...I lost some top end but it is quite responsive in the mid range...and sounds great.

Patriot Defender seems to be a VERY good value. I may go to one after bumping to 1250cc.

you have to bang on the pipe in a few areas to make it fit.

I have take off headers from an 883R on my bike that I fitted a Supertrapp muffler to, I like it so far. I want to eventually ceramic coat the muffler black to match the headers but it works for now.

count me in the "modified 883r header" club.

I made a 2-1 pipe that looks like a 2-2 out of my stock 883r header and some straight pipe I cut and welded into one chamber. just a quick job to see if it works well and how it sounds. sounds super throaty and tough, and breathes way better than my last one, so I think I might be redoing it and taking more time on the cuts and having a buddy handle the welding.

Watch it buying used off craigslist, I got duped buying a set of V&H for a hundred bucks, checked model #s and turns out they were for something like 89-99 softails. Dude swore up and down they were for sportsters and came off a 96 sporty, even after I got the info from V&H.
Thinking Im just gonna get a supertrapp

I put a Patriot Defender on my 01. They're made for rubbermounts...... but they're only metal, and metal can be formed.
I made a mounting bracket, and BOOM. sounds ggod, pulls hard, and looks good. One of the FEW full stainless steel systems I've
seen on the market.

Hey Caudills it was one of the stock pillow seats with the little buttons down the center. I just narrowed the seat pan and used a knife and sander to reform the foam and had a local upholstery guy recover it with marine vinyl. It was pretty easy and I got to make it exactly how I wanted it. If I could redo it I think I would buy some of that seat gel from drag specialties and put a lil insert in it as well.

I put a D&D Fatcat 2 into 1 exhaust on my 2003 Sportster and I love it. It sounds really unique and got a bit more performance out of it with a zippers air cleaner. Well worth the doll hairs!

OH yeh same here same set up quiet baffles Vance and hines SLips had full Throttle Response 120 put on a Rhinehardt could not go over 95 had to modify the baffle to add MORE Backpressure not Less put a washer right after the collector and a lollipop washer 1/4 way out the end gained more power that way

Hey Any of you guys that are running the 883R headers still have the heat shields? I'm tired of the wrap I have on mine I'm thinking I might try to chop up some of the factory heat shields but I got mine without them.
