Hey, just wondering what most of you guys are doing for your rear axle, on your weld-on hardtails? The stock one is a little too long, and would look kind of goofy if I just stuck a spacer in there. are you machining yours down? or is there a smaller one that fits?

There's 2 types of XS650 Axle I'm pretty sure. TC Bros hardtails are made to fit the later model axle I'm pretty certain.

Hmmm, thats the first I heard of the XS having 2 different axles... can anyone confirm this?

I'm pretty sure that it's length only that changes, I reckon the earlier ones are shorter. They have different chain tensioners as well, narrower axle plates, narrower tensioners etc.

You'll notice that mikesxs only has an axle for 74-84, which corresponds to the years with the different tensioners and axle plates (pre '74 are the narrow ones)

Philbey is correct from what I know. I have a 78 with wires and a drum rear. Then tracked down a drum mag for it. Different tentionsers and axle for the two diifferent wheels no doubt about it.

Had the same problem with my Ironhead bolt on. This dood http://www.chopcult.com/MIKE47/ Mike over at 47Industries hooked me up by machining it down to size. He did a stellar job at a great price and did MORE than was expected. Definitely shoot him an e-mail.
