No doubt these are bitchin'.

So bitchin' in fact they have a "Production Stills" quality.

Anyone else think they might be from a certain movie?

Who's the bikersploitation expert? Blue Collar? Anyone?

The explaination that is with the photo's on the Flickr account says that the author hung around with them and photo'd them for a while during college. I think the photographer is some kind of Dr if I'm not mistaken. Guess thats why they have a high quality. Someone that has a flickr could ask him about it and see if he has more. If he does, he might post them because people are interested, who knows. The link to them is at the top of the first post...

Wow. Here's what the photographer John has to say on the matter. I'll be stoked to see what else he digs out of the vault.

Hi There--
Glad you like them. Yes, i was the original photographere there. The slides have certainly held up well; but I store them in a bank vault so they don't have much temperature variation...
I have a ton of B&W--about 15--20 rolls of negs-- from the same series, and I have to go through them and scan them and start putting them up. In all my free time ... hah! But I'll try to get through it.
I appreciate your interest. Not many people remember, for instance, the first year of the Sportster. Or my 1950 hog with a suicide shift and a springer front end... amazing I am still alive.
All the best-- John

My childhood friend's Step-Dad was in this club. We lived in Riverside, CA in the late 70's. I remember the name well.
I was afraid to go over to his house cuz all the ugly, scary bikers that hung out there!

These are great and am thinking these are from Arlington, Mass. chapter of the DD's.

My best friend, now decreased Donald Kirker was the president of the DD's back in the 60's, possibly the early 70's...my memory is faded. He was the President of the Huns from Fall River, Massachusetts when I started riding in the mid 60's. I was a hang around to the Huns, until Don became a DD. The HA's had alot of trouble with the DD's back then when the DD's were told to take some colors from another club and the DD's refused placing them at severe odds with the HA's. The DD colors were flown at great risk from that time on. Still around, the DD's are the coolest, toughest there was in those days...bad enough to tell the HA's to fuck off and still ride in defiance. I have partied with them as late as the mid 80's....

Don Kirker was a good friend, loyal to his colors both as a Fall River, Mass. Huns flying the 3-piece rocker and an Arlington, Mass. DD...he died in early 80's with sceleraderma of a heart attack. Gone but not forgotten. ..ride hard Don....I'll join you someday Brother.

if I remember my history, I thought the double D's started in so. cal back in the mid 60's and then there was a big split and 1/2 of them went to Michigan or Wisconsin or some place. they are still an active 1 % club with several eastern chapters and I think they have a Hollywood Ca. chapter.

Off hand, I'd might say Conn. But the photographer says he was a philosophy student in Cambridge.....Cambridge, Mass is within 10 miles of Arlington. The DD's had a chapter in Arlington, Mass...I'm almost positive these pics are of the DD's in Massachusetts....Arlington. I remember them well!!!!

Your right Torch.
They split for a while, then after a number of years, pulled all the charters back together under one patch, which isn't the one in the pics.

I remember The Huns. We had em in CT. New Haven chapter I think. There were a ton of clubs in my area. Ha's were originally Grateful Dead in Bridgeport back then if I remember right.

I haven't spoken the word "Huns" in decades....to know somebody else remembers them is too cool! I rode my first motorcycle, a BSA chopper with them in the mid to late 60's....great memory....glad you could share it. Cool, Arby!

It's like finding another stash of Danny Lyon or HST pics, except that the good Dr. seems to have set up his shots
and used a tripod to get the extra quality. I'd bet he gives his patients very good, very meticulous care...

I might have one around here somewhere but it would require a scan to put it up. Was a typical 60's build on the 1st go around....long front end, sportster tank, king & queen seat. Second and last build done in '71 I think was an early FX front end w/drag bars.

I'll see what I can do.

in cambridge mass we used to see the DD's and a local group called the Deacons. in 1970 (about) the DD's
(so the story goes) rode by the HA's new club & lobbed a grenade which was fetched by a german sheppard. killed the dog and a war party of HA's broke into our hippie commune and scared the living shit out of us. they thought we were dealing to the DD's and were trying to get addresses out of us. the fact that we were all tripping
balls did NOT help. after they left i bugged out of the dump and stopped drugs cold turkey... those were the days...

Looks like the real original thing to me. At least that's how I remember things. The pics may look so good cuz photographers used way different film than what the average person used in their Brownie or Instamatic cameras. A lot of them also used 35mm slide film which rendered a lot nicer print then regular negatives. Tricks of the day I guess.

Even Angels Ol' Ladies wore the colours when riding behind their man. I think it was Sonny that put a stop to that around the time they changed the patch to the "Barger Larger".

I could be wrong but I think the d-h was always that size except the San Fran chapter which was allowed to be smaller by special decree.

Sonny's book says that the Oakland chapter started wearing the larger death head Halloween of '59 and more and more Northern California HA started wearing it until it "became the rule rather than the exception".

I have friend who was DD Mass. but later, like late 70's & 80's.
I can ask him.

EDIT: I saw him this afternoon and he was in there during 80's & 90's and did not recognize the name.
You should try to reach out to the photographer and see if he knew of him.
