thanks for the kind words fellas! this is my first ground up build, and I really wanted to go all out, so I bought every cool part I could find. my next build is already materializing, and it's completely being made from vintage used and NOS parts, also it's gunna be a swing arm bike... I like to change shit up, different looks for whatever mood I'm in. but first I need to get this one done and ride-able. the next one will just have to wait. this one has already been placed on the back burner once, so I could finish a 79 CB 400 Honda flat tracker inspired bike. to answer the question about the finned cover, it's actually the first one in the world, I had my friend John Scerri (lytedrive) in Australia cast it for me, hes brilliant when it comes to that kind of stuff. he also made the finned timing cover on my bike.

dannyb, congrats (soon) on the kid man! they are an absolute blast, I actually have my second one on the way as well. I didn't waste much time, my first one (in the pic) will have just turned 2 when the next one shows up... I'll eventually figure out what in the hell is causing all these little munchkins to appear!

check back for up-dates, I'm slowly but surely getting stuff done!

you guy's are gunna make me get all emotional... honestly though, thanks for the props. feels good to know that people dig what you are building, keeps me motivated!

the kicker pedal is from Mullins Chain Drive. I ordered it straight from him, then modified the spindle mount just a bit to fit the stock trump arm. about 10 min's of work... Brandon's a good guy to deal with too.

I primarily bought that pedal, as well as much of the other custom stuff from "indie" specialty shops wherever I could. I figure that if a guy makes a good product, both fit, and finish, right here in the U.S.A. I would much rather give him my hard earned dollars each and every time. Besides, it will be cool as shit to have this stuff 40+ years from now, as many of these guys only specialize in making limited # runs, of only a hand full of products. shits kinda rare even without age!

as for the P-Pad, yeah it's technically on back wards, but it creates a very comfortable saddle for me to let my ass ride back in. my tail bone hurt every time I rode my last bike (with the same seat) from eventually riding back and touching the fender. It use to bust my balls, so I put a back wards p-pad on it, and now your busting my balls for doing that! Hahahaha... besides, I think they look better back wards anyways, and after all it's all about looking good!

It does suck, what a prick for not finishing this build, you should kick his ass for sure.

Actually, after some good cold snaps I'm just getting started back on it. multiple factors to the long hiatus. Another baby girl, work at the body shop is damn good right now, so I'm getting while the getting is good, spending money on two other projects (HD and another triumph), and I actually did a Honda street tracker and have been enjoying the shit outta it in what little spare time i get. seems that I like to ride 'em more than i like working on them while the weather is perfect, who woulda guessed? all in all I feel pretty damn blessed that I haven"t been able to work on my bike, considering the reasons why

Great build too, looking forward to seeing it come together. I love that head-steady solution.

Hahaha actually, thats our paint tint bank, it's just in the back of my work stall in the shop, the rest of the place looks like a shit bomb exploded most of the time... That head steady was a bitch, I wont sugar coat it at all. but It uses the correct holes, not the "studs" like some. thanks for the feedback!

so I narrowed and flat bottomed the tank, modified 2 sets of crime scene's hidden Frisco mounts, end result is no hardware seen. re-located the filler, thats a Brit cap and bung from a stock triumph tank. I'll snap some pics of the petcock set up tomorrow, didn't realize that I hadn't yet...

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr57/66triumph/bike%20build/AaronsPhone004.jpg

re-worked an old beat to hell pre-unit rigid tank, tried to make the mounts kinda fade away so-to-speak to match the tank.

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr57/66triumph/bike%20build/AaronsPhone002.jpg

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr57/66triumph/bike%20build/AaronsPhone003.jpg

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr57/66triumph/bike%20build/AaronsPhone001.jpg

end results. I dig the way the pre-unit rigid tank kinda looks right at home, and follows the shape of the narrowed sporty tank.

-A.

P.S., before anyone says it, that oil tank is getting one more smaller bracket to triangulate it, and keep it from pivoting.

Yeah, A David Bird Built frame +4 is supper cool for your likes but is a bad attempt at a chopper. Imagine if it was a Bird frame with 50 degrees of rake then you got a chopper. finished up the 3rd mount to triangulate it. shouldn't move at all now.

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr57/66triumph/bike%20build/IMG_2428.jpg

set the ride height. the roller stand under it is un-strapped, and the bike is just barely leaning on it.

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr57/66triumph/bike%20build/IMG_2429.jpg

messed with the height until I got the exhaust running perfectly level. (OCD much?)

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr57/66triumph/bike%20build/IMG_2436.jpg

that last pic is for everyone who said I needed to shorten the exhaust!

tack on the kickstand lug, and it's tear down time next weekend! (if Mike will get his thumb outta his ass.):D

I am fat, you just gotta build em lighter, and hotter... hahaha.

-A.

P.S. on a serious note, have you ever checked the power to weight ratios on a 650 triumph to a early HD of similar years? shit amazed me.

i guess ill enlighten you cavemen on the equation for this shit. Let x=amount paid for said sticker, and b=number of blogs sticker is found on

f(x)=x(x+.2343)/b= overall horsepower. At this is what the guy at the shop who has a picture of him next to tony stewart on the wall....

I'm still plugging away on it, just down to the dumb shit now, after this weekend i should have everything ready for the plater. Still need to send the tubes out to be shortened and re-threaded, then it sand blast, body work, and paint. I would take some pics, but most of you know what a bike looks like scattered all over the shop. When I start turning shit shiney I'll be sure and post some up.
