I added a little BMX feel to the kicker arm. I found the white pedal at an Indian shop in ventura county. It was the perfect fit for the project.

very cool. im diggin the white springs pegs and kicker. Grips too i assume? Whats in store for the tank?

bforbes
01-26-2010, 11:39 AM
yeah, the grips are 80's speed-way's.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/brianforbes/1208090620.jpg

i havnt fully decided on the tank yet, but i do know it will be black and white.

Very sweet chop. Don't know much about the SR's but that thing looks like it's gonna be killer!! Really like the whole BMX thing ya got goin, when I was a kid, my first BMX bike, a Mongoose, with mags, had the foam bar protecters on the bars and over the gooseneck. Anybody else remember those? Anyway, the covers for the protecters were checkered, you said you were goin black and white on the tank, why not checkered? Just throwing that out there, keep up the great work!!

i started toying around with the paint scheme last night. i think im going with a mix of yamaha mx style, and ill toss in some chopper coolness. i laid down this base to start with.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e66/brianforbes/DSC00113.jpg

thanks brotha!

im in the home stretch. i had to bring the frame back to powdercoat to be redone, but it came back perfect this time. dont pay any attention to the tank, its far from done, but i couldnt resist mounting it up. i realized tonight that he chrome shop gave me someone elses rear brake arm, LAME. gotta deal with that tomorrow.

02-06-2010, 2:38 AM
Everything about this is cool, except the white wheels, and that's only because that other dude wih the 45" has white wheels.

alfonso
02-06-2010, 3:34 PM
Was biting my tongue thinking the same... The whites look a little 'plasticy'. Black skyways are the way to go! Awesome build though.

bforbes
02-06-2010, 4:29 PM
thanks for the props! my memory of 80's bmx has always been sparked by seeing white mags and waffle grips. ive seen a few motorcycles with white wheels, but ive seen thousands with black wheels, and i was going for something a bit different than the norm. this bike is a personal tribute to the good ol days of thrashing around on my bmx, feeling like "the man" cause i finally got some white mags, and wishing that one day i'd have a awesome motorcycle. those were good days, and im keeping a little of that alive.

02-06-2010, 4:59 PM
Ahh good good point. Got to respect that. That's a story I can reaaaaaally relate to. In a Kuwahara with black mags kinda way! You gotta pick up those blue highlights on your tank surely!? Anyway. Love it.

Just needs pegs and a hardtail with a platform you can stand on while you're bustin decades!! Oh, and a basket for ET naturally.

bforbes
02-07-2010, 10:58 AM
i finished up the running lights/turn signals. i may wire them up to be only turn signals. i like how they're kinda hidden until they're turned on.

DaveyRiot
02-08-2010, 1:54 PM

bforbes
