I'm getting about a 1/8" play maybe a little less in the basket. All stock washers and spacers are there, just wondering if i could shim it or should i look into checking the mainshaft?

did the brass thrust washer behind basket appear worn?

that's the way most are, no sense worrying about it until it gets to about 1/4"

The thrust washer is good, I just installed a new one a few months ago when replacing the roller bearings in the basket. Also is there an updated primary chain tensioner with a locknut on it out there, it always seems to work itself loose.

Torch, I think he is in reference to the Primary Chain Tensioner, that keeps coming loose.

primary chains will wear out prematurely if you over tighten them, it's fine to have about 3/4" to an inch movement up and down.
the primary chain will tilt the clutch basket if it's too tight and cause the clutch plates to bind up when disengaged.
