How do I tell if my cams are nitrided or not?

Triumph started nitride hardening cams in 1969.

Ok, I have three exhaust cams numbered 71-0042(casting number),
one has been stamped 71-9990. the rest only have the casting number.
is there ay way to tell if theyre hardened?
Is there a huge risk in using a non hardened cam if the tappet oiling is blocked off?

that may cause the cam wear out prematurely, and it does cause the cam face to get flat spots in them and then I've seen the hardened surface of the cam follower come off (silver soldered on ) and get all into the engine.

It was a problem up to 65 and Triumph changed it to an oiling system, then in 69 they hardened the cams,
Just remember if it didn't cost the company money, it wasn't a problem, they did't fix stuff that wasn't a problem.
