View Full Version : 68 triumph frankenbonnie build

I finally have this thing dialed in and am stoked about it. It's getting a makeover now that it's running damn near perfect.

I grabbed it for 1200, pretty damn ugly. rebuilt the top end, new pushrods, rebuilt the kick quadrant, new clutch plates, various other shit, much help from Torch, Loffer, and speedandnoise in terms of explaining the british engine to me and some needed parts. Not to mention fellow 33ers in a generous miles donation

From what I can gather
68 bonnie bottom
71 aftermarket top with a 750 big bore
early 60s rocker boxes
joe hunt mag
aae frame
possibly an aae springer
21 chopper stopper mini drum up front
16 harley rear laced to a triumph axle and drum set up
currently using swap old bars, sissy, fender, seat, and risers
mikuni vm32s with old VW v stacks jammed in there
-the original builder was really good, but POs since let the thing rot, every dirty trick in this damn thing for more short game power, including a custom shift pattern.

this thing has burned once, took down my garage and has been rebuilt again. Just happy it's one kick now, shifts smooth and runs well.

Here is how I got it, phase 2 pre burn, and version 3.0 post burn.

new tank, seat, and some other pretty are on the way this week, should look good

I appreciate that but I went through hell and back with this thing. It's getting everything I want on it and a little clean up

well it's about 95 percent, shot a quick pic.. still needs a little wiring cleanup, white pegs and maybe a dual headlight set up. I was gonna make it prettier, but I sort of like it a bit dirty.

looks badass in its white incarnation

So it's pretty much complete.. Just waiting on some fabric wire to clean up the wiring.
New chrome drag upsweeps cleaned it up, a few spiked bolts to make it more mustach, dual headlight. Running perfect

Time to move on to triumph build 2 which is going to be a bit different, long and low santee frame, stock forks, 18 on the ass, 19 up front, with a rebuilt and very clean 76 T-140 motor

Again big thanks to Ken Loffer, Torch, and speed and noise for parts and help for a first time british build by a guy who thought knowing XS's would get him by

That springer was the biggest improvement but The bike itself started as one thing and ended up with another look , Major improvement . Good Job..
