Hi, Does anyone know the size of the Brake Plate Nut on a twin leading shoe BSA/ Triumph. I can'r get a ring spanner on it and my sockets are too short. I would like to know the size before I go beg, borrow or steal a deeper socket. Cheers.

it was a Whitworth size in 68, then in 69 and 70 it changed to 1-1/8"..

Thanks Torch, I will see what I can rustle up this weekend. I'm not sure what year the brake is as I got it off e-bay.

it east to tell a 68, it has a cable stay mounted at around the 7 o'clock position, and the 69 and 70 have the cable stay up next to the area where the forks holds the brake plate in position.

It is a 69 / 70 plate so a 1 1/8 should do the trick. Cheers.
