View Full Version : Exhaust sprks at tip??? Why?

Weird question? Fabbed up 2 into 1 pipes for my 2000 883C sporty. Bolted them on to test and noticed momentary spraks/ flame at high rpms. Not all the time, just when I pulled the throttle and let off. There's a lolipop I made for the end of the pipes for some back pressure. Any tips>?

If the pipes are shorter than before, it could be unburned fuel or gasses that previously were consumed before exiting the longer pipes. If they are are unmuffled/baffeled, sparks from burnt carbon fowling is getting out of the pipes - that's what mufflers, baffels and spark arresters prevent.

Or maybe it's a timing issue. Plugs firing a hair too late.
