i currently have a 70 frame with a 63 t120c motor in it, i want to build up the 71 tr6r motor i have and put that in the 70 frame. can i do it?

and is there any special things to consider, ive found alot of information but nothing very definitive.
do i need different mounts, rocker boxes?

thanks, Mike

As far as I know.. You can drop it in with no problem.. Seems to be a very easy swap.
Good Luck with your project..
I'm sure someone here with more knowledge can give you a definitive answer, but I'd bet it's an easy job with little or no changes..

thanks, yeah it seems to me like it would be a drop it in and go, but ya never know with this stuff sometimes, always some quirky thing you run into when ya never expect it.

the head stays are the only difference.

I'm currently building a 72 motor in a 66 frame. It will go in no problem, but 71/72 rocker boxes can't be removed in the frame. I swapped to the pre oif rocker boxes, and all is good.

OK, so if i want to use the 71 rocker boxes with the nifty feeler holes i can, but i have to put them on before i put it into the frame?

it's damn near impossible to put a unit motor in a pre 1970 frame with the rocker boxes on, and those nifty feeler gauge holes are just another place for a oil leak.
there were reasons those rocker boxes were discontinued after 2 years.

just use the early style boxes and it all works as God intended it.
