Here's my XS build. Ardcore Choppers frame, Mullins Chaindrive super narrow trees and billet mechanical fuel injection. Fuel tank is a cut down West Coast Choppers Villan tank. Parts on their way include Invader 5 spoke 21" spool front wheel , 18x3.5 rear 5 spoke and Performance Machine rear brakes.

Paint will be candy Pagan gold with black scallops striped in white. The frame ,handle bars and fork legs will be Pagan gold . Craig Fraser of Air Syndicate does my striping so it'll have allot of old school striping on it. Wheels will be satin black along with parts of the motor. Most of the billet will be black anodized.

Holy shit man more details on the injection!! I'd roll that on mine at the drop of a hat~!

Good looking setup so far. I also dig the spaced out axle plate thingo's on the back, you going to run some kind of trippy circular slotted rotating tensioner in there? Pretty keen to see the invaders.

Very very cool. I'm hoping this autosubscribes to this thread for me.

I've spent less on this whole project than I did on the 4" open belt drive for the last H-D that I built. Gotta love these XS bikes :)

Whats going on with the lower motor mounts?

Saw your newest thread with your new wheels and such, but figured I'd keep tech stuff in this one.

Is that fuel injection setup custom made for the XS? It looks like the intake flanges are XS style.

What will drive the fuel pump? Cam driven like the old Harley setup they offered?

Looks great man, can't wait to see the progress and curious to hear how it is to tune that injection. Keep us posted.

I talked to the guy that made the FI units. They are mechanical, with a mechanical fuel pump as well. He said this one was for a 650cc jet ski. He made thousands of kits from 89-99 for jet skis, banshees, and HDs, but he has not made any since and does not really have too much info on them.

This set up is off of a Kawasaki jetski. Just happened to be the same center to center. It's 46mm so it needed to be necked down to the intake port size. The manifolds are one offs. The pump will be driven by the cam. The injection is for a 2 stroke so it might be a challenge to get it dialed in. I had a Banshee with a 52mm set up on methanol and it ran perfect. We'll see if this will work on the XS.

the problem now is with the increase in demand comes an increase in price. The last ten years., you couldnt give them away, now when they come up forsale they are overpriced, or sold in minutes like Bruce Springstein tickets. Im in the hunt for one, but until then , your build and others 650 threads keep me wrenching on my xs 1100

The ones with titles are way over priced for sure. I payed 1000.00 for the bike ,not runnunig, and just used the engine and title. The easiest way is to get a basket case and go thru one of the title services.

motoguru
01-25-2010, 9:38 AM
I just picked up a runner with a title for $20. No joke.

revmike
01-25-2010, 9:40 AM
They are a bit overpriced when running and titled. I was lucky to pick up a close but not running complete bike for 500. The seller didn't have a title, but I helped him get one. He even delivered it for 25 bucks. So I think the non runners are the way to go. Everything looks inexpensive after you spend some time buying Harley shit.

Expect to pay 1200 to 2000 for a runner (with a title), which is about 500.00 over priced in my book.

I believe you! I think the REAL deals are the local ones. Anything 'bigger' than Craigslist is going to demand significantly more. The local classifieds can still get you in well under the 'market' value. Most people view an older or non working bike as mostly junk they are lucky to get rid of. Look for the sick bike leaning against the shed with 1/2 a tarp pulled over it and go offer that gentleman a couple hundred for his junque...

ha ha!

i found one in my local classifieds here in PA, titled, complete, says it just needs wired. and comes w/ an extra titled motor for $600. if i had any extra coin that shit would be in my garage right now.

if anyone is interested, i can go try to find it again...

Been playin with the controls and came up with this "Mid control heel brake" set-up. Master is PM contour and pegs are Joker Machine. I'll post some pics of the other side soon. The other side will be foot clutch jockey shift. Finished levers will be billet with different design. Hope it works.

First and foremost, you're scoot is looking as dope as they come. I'd love to chop an XS myself but my knowledge is a little too limited for it yet.

Second, thank you for the info on Todd's Cycles. I've been wondering who did the Dyna on the FatBook cover for a while now. They make sweet stuff, as do you sir.

Got the wiring can / fake oil bag partially done. Still have to tap it for #8 or 10 an fittings to run wiring thru and figure out the mount. Can will be a vertical mount. It's about 4.75"od. The details are killin' me...I want this thing to come down for paint.

Haven't worked on the XS for a while but just started back up. Got the crank back from Hugh and am working on the engine. I'm putting 2 lectrons on it instead of the MRD. Not much support for the injection so I'm not going to let it slow down the build.
