Haha! Ive been missing bikes like those! Great pix!

I found a article about the "new xs" in a old magazine I picked up at the swap yesterday. Ill post it up later this week. Good reading.

If this thread continues to post bikes like the above, it will be one of my favorites for sure.

btw. Most of those pics above should qualify for the jap photodump. That orange 13 is ruling.

In the effort to keep my posts on the "contributing" side of the fence...

As far as I know BSA's are not jap even though Kawasaki bought the A10 designs back in the 60's

Wow, umm, man wow - if your lost: jockeyjournal.com

I would label this bike as a brat, maybe Im crazy but I believe the brat style evolved from Japanese craftsmanship as well I believe a Jap person built the bike, not sure though.

Just to let you onto a little secret, Japbratastic isnt a word either...

Actually i used to be on the JJ and i got kicked off.
i have a VT600CD 06 chopped up and they told me it wasnt vintage enough and if they let me be on the forum they have to let crotch rockets be on there too. they dleted my profile and everything.
hah c'est la vie! they gots to run the forum how they see fit, i cant judge that. however they did allow a pic of my keister riding the dirt track at kuttys place to be shown LOL
i knew something else would come up where people who ride charlie davidsons could call home.
seeing some great shots up in this business!!! love this place so far!!!!!!

Loving all the twins and early CB's, but anybody have any pics saved of good looking DOHC CB's? Have one in the back yard, and I'm trying to decide which way to go with it. Seems like I'm torn between a Brat-style bike and a digger-style chop.

I would think most people know it's a shop, but its doesn't hurt if that style of bike has label and that's as good as any, although I'm sure it would piss off the other builders of that style. That said the only reason I used if for the 750 is because it's a Brat built bike.

Great page views too!

I can dig that, but I think we're entering the "Carson Top" zone... when the shop name begins to describe all bikes built in a similar style.

Part of me says the chick is cute, so it's cool.

The other part says that chopper culture being latched onto and pimped out for the well off teeny boppers set is creepy.

As far as Brat Style term goes, it could have been a lot worse. Hows about Pouty Princess style. Or maybe the Miley Paris.

Either way, the scene is producing some unreal shit. Bring on the pics!
I would think that BRAT STYLE would not mind if there name is thrown around.I know when i wanted to build a bike and wanted a new style their site came up.I think it is good for there business.

erikweste
08-18-2009, 7:34 PM
I was under the impression that customizing the smaller displacement bikes, not unlike a little brother trying to emulate his older brother, was where the "brat" term came from. Would it not make sense that "Brat Style" came up with that moniker to utilize the recognition that the style of build was already generating?

I don't know... and really doesn't matter. I mean really, it doesn't. It lets me know the style people are talking about.

The first 2 pages of this thread are awesome... gets off track a little... then gets back on. Most of the pics are rediculously good bikes. My last non-contributing post in this thread.

The wassel tank is a little short but it's all painted and looking nice so go with it. The fix could be shaping a seat pan a & foam to smooth out that line.
It's a good looking bike.

Man love this! My question is if anybody knows anything on there building process on the xs's? I can see how the seat area is done no problem. Are they running any extended swinarms? It also looking like the neck area is pushed forward a few inches? If anybody has any info on this let me know please. Thanks

Scotty

i hate people calling everything bratstyle even if its from different builders BUT i dug up a couple street bikers that i had hanging around so i'll post some photos. this one is from kickback and the chick is the owner.

Man how come we don't have chics that look like this riding sweet looking bikes in the states? If we do I have yet to see any of them. This saddens me

The first 2 pages of this thread are awesome... gets off track a little... ....agreed. All Japanese bike's with suspension are now labeled BRAT ?

Apparently sr500's can run without a battery...they use battery eliminators (just a capacitor that holds the charge to run the lights)

Mine before I got it. Someone took it apart and left it outside for a few years until I rescued it. It will be glorious once again.

Quick hide these before Dragon shuts us down!!, OH WAIT. Are xs650's gonna go the way of the Bates seat? or have they already? Im referring to price. These are excellent little bikes, and Im glad I have a place in cyberspace to go and look at them all in one place. Im too damn tall for em, but they rule. The picture of Gooses' bike a few pages back rule (mad max) I want another kz1000 baaad! one thing at a time though

All good for me, I'm developing a nice little cache of parts if the XS's do start going up in price.

Oh yeah they're not that cheap over here in Australia anyway, I can't belive you american blokes can pick up running ones for 500 bucks!
