slowly but surely.
after trading for a pile of total shit parts,i ended up with the motor and a few other usable pieces.
basically started with the motor. this is as far as i have got so far. waiting for a ton of parts to come in.
Lucas over at The Factory Metal Works has some really good prices on alot of little things iv'e needed. def has saved me from searching and/or spending more than i should have too.
i'll update as things move along.
looking for an old vinyl or leather skinny and thin solo seat if anyone has something kickin around?
started with:

Actually, you're alot like Bob Denver's character of Maynard G Krebbs. Not only do you look like him but both of you freak out when someone mentions work:

That is a lot of weight for a plastic milk crate, though they are difficult to find, you should at least use a metal one.

that crate is strong as hell.
i had a panhead on it too and didnt even budge.
i think it will be alright.

it's all the little parts that are gettin me. they add up quick.
Sissy bar came from ours truly and "life partner" to all CC'ers, CRFYou. lol!
ill cup some balls here for parts recieved and lent, owed, etc.from friends.
Dustin,Mad75,Luke,Mike,Jeremy,Rob, Booze Fighter Rob,Greaser Mike,Asin,ShovelEd,Jason.i know im missing a couple, but have hay fever or some shit right now. cant think.
thanks guys. much appreciated.
ill post more as it goes. should be wrapping this up pretty soon.

also,i have an upswept OEM "Rocky" cocktail shaker. anyone want to trade for a "non-upswept" one? 1 1/2 inch inside dia.

whats the front end plan?

cHiCoD
03-10-2012, 9:19 PM
i like it, man
whats the front end plan?

i have a nice chrome triumph front end for it. the tubes are 6 or 8 over stock. was going to send them to forks by frank,by think when i can afford it,im just going to buy new "stock length" tubes instead.
thats the only thing keeping the front end off of it right now.

Looking good man, been thinking about running some Apes on my Honda, I think you may have solidified it for me, they look killer.

cHiCoD
04-26-2012, 4:26 PM
Thanks man. got home last night, completely out of my mind. got some zzz's.
those apes are a Hellings knock off. very very narrow in the middle. about 4 inches.
i wasnt going to run them, but as soon as we put them on,it was like they belonged there.
gonna get it on the road and ride it for the summer, then tear it all down and chrome the gas tank, rechome the rear section/oil tank/etc/etc and powdercoat the front frame loop.

Not a problem! The BSA is done I'm taking her out tonight for a first ride. I'm going to get rid of the front drum and go with a spool I think. Glad to see you scoot coming together, I know there was a big ass pain getting to this point, but that makes it all worth while!

cHiCoD
04-27-2012, 12:37 PM
yeah, there def was some points that made this build a little hard in the beginning, but its finally coming together.
i cant take all the credit.my bud Boozefighter Rob has helped me out alot and pulled a 2 day no sleep session with me to help get it done and everyone that has kicked down a part, gave me a good deal, etc. def deserve a thank you. and they will get one in print. :)
should be home by the 31st.
then its road trip time!

im not sure of the drop.
the stretch is 4 over stock.
as far as the brand of hardtail,i really am not sure.
it's an old alloy nickle or chrome rear section.
some have said it to be an old "Trackmaster" section, and some have said it to be an old "Burbank Choppers" rear section.
anyone's guess is as good as mine.

Trackmaster didn't make rigid bolt on tail sections like this (while they DID make some complete hardtail frames they wouldn't have made one that was 4" over. Dirt track race frames have to conform to AMA rules and it would have been stock length if anything. Sonicweld made rigid dirt track frames for Triumph 500's but again, they would have been a complete frame not a bolt on, stock length and the axle plates are totally different.

Just trying to help. Also, did the carbs show up in the mail yet?!??!!?

cHiCoD
05-05-2012, 9:01 AM
you may be right.
i did hear that "Burbank Choppers" back in the day, bought some of the frame rights from Trackmaster.
it's anyone's guess who made the rear section. either way,im glad i didnt sell it.

waiting to hear from Rob right now if they showed up or not.
if they did,im leaving asap to go my bike.

well, found the problem that was causing the motor to run weird.
wasnt the coil, wasnt the Mity Max box, wasnt anything like that.
we never checked the timing gears when we were going through everything. it was rebuilt, but obviously a little half assed.
the timing gears are just like one tooth off, which has been causing it to run funky. it kicks over and runs, but not perfect.
gotta take the top end off and do it all over again and get it right.
at least it's nothing major.
hopefully it will be back on the road by this weekend or monday.

I don't think the top end has to come off.

Can't you loosen the rocker arm tappets all the way off, take out the idler gear and adjust accordingly?

Don't do more work than you have to, recruit.

Thanks guys,i really appreciate it.
i am completely in love.
in actuality,i "loosely" tried to style it after a D.Mann,or was it Roth, painting called "Hollywood Nights"
it's def not exact, but some of the same charcteristics of the trump in the painting.
iv'e always loved that painting. as cheesy as it sounds,i guess thats my tribute to it.

i had alot of help from friends. i know ive said it before, but they def had a hand in parts, freebies, good parts deals, electrical, some mechanical, etc.
Luke,Mike (Greaser Mike),Mike (Taint),BF Rob,NM Rob,Dustin,Ken (loffer),Jeremy (LFOD),Branden (crFU),Nick (peirson51),Caleb,Todd(Asin), Dan (Stinky Pete) Bruce Lipski,etc,etc. i know there are more,but im half dead right now.
i appreciate it very much.

Help you?! Yeah, THAT'S what i did. I certainly was not trying to sabotage your build so you'd sell it to me for 50 bucks. That's something I definitely would not do. I guess now would be a good time to mention that red Loctite I sent you was actually a mixture of red food coloring and Elmers glue?

But seriously, I'm glad to see you're mobile again.
