Good luck with the build. Just finished a '79 not too long ago. Runs fast and has a sound all its own. If you have any questions I'll be happy to assist to the best of my ability.

That linking to another thread blows.

She ran again. I put just a little gas that I had from lawn mower use(gas inside those gallon red jugs). It didnt start or show signs of starting. I thought well my carbs need be cleaned again since they froze and got stuck from gumming up. Yesterday blasted the carbs with cleaner then kicked the bike, It rumbled on for a sec. Tonight tried it again with a friend but this time the bike stayed on, so I think the little gas i put in didnt flow since the jets were gummed, and the cleaner being sucked in to "jump" start the bike cleaned them enough to let the little bit of gas flow into the bike. Tomorrow getting more gas, then have to make a tail light bracket, slap on the tach so i can set the idle. Tuesday for for permit and yeah should be riding this bad larry this week.

Lookin' good.

I have two questions.

1. How did you do your tail light/ plate mount? In the one picture, it looks zip tied to the rear spring. I am trying to figure out how to do mine on my KZ750. I am trying not to over complicate things, yet do it without a welder.

2. Is that seat just a cut down stock pan? Is attached by the factory hinge?

The taillight is an ebay setup, I'm going to fab up something so that it mounts to the axle, the way it sits now was just so it doesn't fall to the ground

Yes I cut the sides down to make it more slim, might have to trim some more.

Its been a long time but im back at it again. been told to check my valve clearances so i did and all of them were at .05mm when ti should be at like .10mm doing that tomorrow. some updates on the site

pulled buckets to get new shims

JonnyC
08-13-2011, 7:03 PM
Shims are in now, all valve clearances are .10mm instead of .05mm. Cleaned and installed my carbs along with pod filters again. swapped out bars for flat trackers, flipped them and made them look kinda like clubmans, now the bike has a more aggressive lean adjusted my clutch since it was loose, i did it so many times that i can now do it without looking. so im thinking maybe tomorrow if it dont rain i may be able to get it started......OH and i think i may have figured out why my electrical went from working to blowing main fuses....inside the throttle assembly/housing one of the wires frayed showing copper so i think since that is above the switch for headlight i think thats why i kept blowing the main fuse every time i threw on the headlights

That bike is relly starting to look great. I just did valve adjustment on my bike last week. And yes it does help to know actual specs. the kz i have as my profile pic is the one i built and sold last winter. I liked a lot of the things you have done to yours.
