watch out for the Taiwan pistons because of the incorrect ring gaps. I just had a set of 40 overs with a ring gap of 26k, I took them back to my supplier and we checked all the other Taiwan sets gaps and they were all the same. I had him check a set of Hepolites and they had a gap of 14k. I just read a thread on the other "over modulated" blog site and this happened to a bunch of other people.
I had to take a set of .060 rings and cut them down.

Thanks for the info. I'll be checking mine later today.

Oddly though, the Taiwan rings seem to seat better than the British ones.

Anyone else notice this?

this is true, we used to wipe them with a little motor oil and fire them up.
on the British rings we put everything in the hole dry a fire them up.
my guess is the British rings are harder and will probably last longer.

Seems like that would be like poking your girlfriend before she was wet.

I poked a couple Taiwan ringers in my day. One was over 40 and the other was tight and dry.

What were we talking about…?
