I'm still new with these little engines and I have a questions.

Now I know there's big differences in the points ignition bikes 70-79 and then then electronic ones of the later years but does anyone know if a a Regulator/Rectifier from a newer one will work on my '77 just asking because it seems like the new style is going for alot cheaper.
I know the new one specifically for the older style is the smart way to go...but the smart way isn't always the Choppy way.

Thanks for the advice.

Yep, sure will. The wiring is a bit different, but it definitely works.

I'm pretty sure that you can run the newer style with no problems. I've got one on mine that th PO installed.

If you want cheap - check this out http://650rider.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=8476 about 1/2 way down the page

Depending on which one you have there's a couple of minor mods you need to do to get a regulator/rectifier to work well.

I'm pretty sure there's a how to on the xs650chopper.com tech section.

Decided to give this a shot shopped by radio shack and Autozone on my way to work and whipp it together on break and lunch about 23 bucks to make we'll see if the bottomfeeder will fire up tomorrow. If its as good as they say it is i'll be very happy and 75 bones richer.
