i dig what ya got done so far, i think some different exhaust n a different color on the tank would do wonders though. like what ya got though!

Looks money to me, I cant weld either. Only thing is I would swap out the "looks like im moving sitting still" yammy wheels. Just my 2 cents though. Good job on it.

my options are pretty slim on the rear because of the shaft drive from what I've researched

I'm going to drill the baffles out and see how loud those straight megaphones will be haha. I'm def going to paint as soon as i get a few more little tweaks worked out.

I love the shaft drive, im not sure id get anything else. (unless the price is right of course) What model/year Yamaha did you start out with? Is it an XS 4 cylinder or an old VMax or something?

Oh yea, real nice transformation, I thought thats what it looked like.
I would recommend taking out the baffles, it makes a difference. On my 86 virago I just used a hole saw bit, channel locks and locking pliers. There was a second baffle, offset behind it, and I took that out too. I didnt have to rejet, but I did open up the stock air filter a little more for better air flow.
Im not 100% sure the megaphones have the same baffle setup cuz I think Yammys changed their carbs a few times in the 80's, Hitachis, Mikunis, CV and not.
