Hello Hello,

I have a question and want to get some insight. I have a 72 Cb750 Chopper i just got on the road. I runs ok need to get the carbs and timing down. but the question is!!!!! the bike starts jerking when i let the clutch out in 1st gear only. not sure what it is. I'm thinking it either clutch plate a bad or the chain is jumping on the sprocket. Anyone out there know anything about this??? i'm hoping its not the gears, cause that a bitch!!!!!

Could be a broken clutch plate, or maybe the wrong type of oil. Make sure your using something motorcycle specific, otherwise the detergents mess with the clutch, being that its wet

you think just motor oil could cause the clutch plates to slip that abruptly???

It can if it is the wrong type or even old. Also, I wouldn't use synthetic as old as your motor is. It's not designed for it and will leak.

it not synthetic in there but its just regular motor oil.

Run it for a minute or two, drain the oil and replace with some good oil and add Lucas oil additive, it works great on these old motors and I'll guarantee it'll help those clutches. If you haven't got a sync for those carbs you can bench sync them with a drill bit.....need any help hop over to www.sohc750.net those fellas are gurus
