View Full Version : Whats the fastest you've ever been on two wheels?

08-05-2009, 1:10 AM
76 RD 400. Maxed out the gage and it still was pulling when I had to take my hand off the throttle because my lid was choking me to death. I figure somewhere around 160 on a bald tire somewhere on a Illinois cornfield road back in the 80s. When your 16 its just about seeing how fast it will go. Never die, just had to be careful not to multiply back then.

I had my ZX6 at an indicated 153, and someone elses Hayabusa at 170 (indicated). It's tough on sportbikes because they are off by about 12%, but that was plenty fast for me in jeans/tennis shoes. Give me a full leather suit and I'll do some boneville runs no problem.

Leather is nice but not the cure all.

I had a engineer friend once who wanted to build a drag bike (before I was a fat ass) powered by a bottle fed turbine. Same bottles that everyone has in there shops holding O/A gas. I was into the idea but the powers that be wouldn't allow us to even demo the beast on there tracks. It was never built for that reason. I still wonder what speed four bottles of compressed air or Nitrogen would of sent me down the track at. We never even considered Bonneville at the time. I wish we did although I don't think the plan was for more than a 1/4 ml.

08-05-2009, 1:39 AM
Used to own a Ducati 996 got it to 160... Owned it for about 2 weeks, the coolant tank cracked and dumped coolant all over the place, some how fed into the carbs and destroyed the whole bike...

08-05-2009, 3:36 AM
150 on a ZZR600, thats about the time I decided to trade it for something a little more mellow.

08-05-2009, 6:28 AM
140 on my Kawasaki Ninja 600 when I was 17. So dumb. I dont do that shit anymore.

08-05-2009, 6:39 AM
It's an almost daily ritual to hit about 110 going over the Maine high-rise bridge on my way into work. I think the fastest I've been is around 120, when I'm over a buck I don't take too much time to look down at the speedo!! hahahahahaha

08-05-2009, 8:08 AM
120 on my buddies old honda hurricane

08-05-2009, 8:26 AM
110 with the wife on the back of a new twinkie bagger.
Took a trip with some freinds From Texas into Arkasas and back. Took the wife and rented a new bagger there. She'd never been on a bike before. Somewhere in Oklahoma I asked her if she wanted to feel 100MPH on a bike, she said yes so off we went.
When we got home a few days later she said "I guess we need a new bike"

Moral to the story, take the Ol Lady ridding once in a while you fuckers.

WARNING! goofy fucking picture next....

08-05-2009, 8:35 AM
I took my old gsxr up to about 130, anything after 110 is just a blur.

08-05-2009, 9:03 AM
Only about 110 on my old Softail...

I hit 90 on my stroked 4 speed Shovel yesterday. That's a totally different experience.

08-05-2009, 9:08 AM
Hit 115, according to my buddies speedo who was beside me, on my rigid Sporty chop trying to catch up to someone who missed an exit. When wobbling starts at that speed, its pretty scary...

08-05-2009, 9:19 AM
I did about 130 on a 2008 ducati 1098 with less than 100 miles on it. it was the first time i ever rode a sport bike and it wasnt mine so i didnt want to open it up too much. smoothest bike i ever rode tho..

08-05-2009, 9:23 AM

I think 95 is about all my little 4 speed shovel can go... (: Did that last weekend trying to keep up with some boys on 93"!!

08-05-2009, 9:52 AM
I rode a friends turbo charge zx14 and got that baby up to around 170 before I started to shit my pants and had to back off..

08-05-2009, 9:57 AM
I think 95 is about all my little 4 speed shovel can go... (: Did that last weekend trying to keep up with some boys on 93"!!

Yeah, mine's a 96", but it's got an aftermarket belt drive on it and sounds like it's revving WAY too high at 90 or so. I need to change it back to chain and put a 24/48 setup on it.

08-05-2009, 10:02 AM
About 100 (indicated) was all my 650 yamaha could do with a wide-open throttle through the Colorado desert west of the Rockies. In that heat, it felt like we weren't even moving though. Of course the bike was loaded down with gear for a cross-country trip, so that didn't help...

08-05-2009, 10:07 AM
105 on my old Trump Speedmaster. Still had more throttle but nothing to prove so I left it at that.

08-05-2009, 10:08 AM
Not even real sure cuz it's been said already anything over 110 get's blurry, I have a nice copy of my ticket that got me at 103 though, made that cop's day.

08-05-2009, 10:29 AM
The fastest was on my buddies CBR1000 at 170, which is when I realized its probably a good thing I don't own a sport bike. The sporty gets taken to 120 on a daily basis though, so I'm not sure thats much better lol.

08-05-2009, 10:42 AM
just over a hundred on my stock sporty with my girl on the back, say what u want but i don't really need to see what going any faster is like. wobble wobble ha.

08-05-2009, 10:45 AM
a little over 140mph on an Eddie Lawson replica back in 1985.
Not so into that stuff anymore

08-05-2009, 11:00 AM
The Eddie Lawson replica brings back memories of me riding my buddies '78 Kawi Z1R with a Turbo at 140 down the expressway chasing a brand new 1983 Honda CB1100F. After that period of time all I have ridden is American V-twins that barley break 100.

08-05-2009, 11:04 AM
One twenty, and like another post read, that was enough for me. I was amazed enough to do it on a stock 700 yamaha v twin from mid 80's

08-05-2009, 11:37 AM
When i was in high school i borrowed a buddies brand new 600RR and went 165 down the hwy near my house, that is when i decided i needed a Harley. Now i have a ridged evo with a 5sp. I've only been about 90 on it but i'm sure it doesn't go much over 100. I don't care though, i'll never go that fast on it.

08-05-2009, 11:57 AM
I took the trump up to about 90 the other day and thought i was gonna get shaken off...

45 degrees of rake+spool front wheel+ 20" bars= Hectic at high speeds.

08-05-2009, 12:03 PM
I did 110 then I got skeered and backed off. sorry im a chicken shit.

08-05-2009, 2:13 PM
167mph on my GSX1400 Streetfighter.

08-05-2009, 3:02 PM
I did 120 on my vmax last year, (now sold) and there was light traffic around on the 215 southbound. That was not an smart thing to do. Got my speedwad with that and now putt around with my Ironhead. Anything above sitting still is vibrating, so I keep it mellow....

08-05-2009, 5:32 PM
182 MPH. Tweaked 1993 GSXR 1100. Fun, but I'll never do it again.

08-05-2009, 5:46 PM
138 roughly on my Trump - I average over a buck on every ride, so 130 isnt all that scary on a nice flat straight road.

08-05-2009, 6:04 PM
around 130-132 in Phoenix on an old friends GSXR.
i remember it quite well....because i pee'd a little.

08-05-2009, 6:37 PM
Well, my speedometer clocks out at 85-90 mph So I would have thought 90 BUT I was going to some bar and my brother was following me in a car and said we were going 116, So I guess 116. Not a big deal But that's the fastest my bike goes.

08-05-2009, 7:49 PM
125 on my old suzuki bandit. As for my current ride, I might as well say 3789 cuz that's how fast it felt and I don't have a speedometer to tell me otherwise!

08-05-2009, 7:50 PM
Daytona 675 cuts out at 165, and I've hit that a few times ;)

08-05-2009, 8:07 PM
164mph indicated on my '99 Yamaha R1 on the way to Phoenix.

Once I started getting gusty side winds I decided to shut it down since the vultures would have found me before any help did.

08-05-2009, 8:29 PM
138 roughly on my Trump - I average over a buck on every ride, so 130 isnt all that scary on a nice flat straight road.

My Bonnie Black was pulling all the way up to 95-97 but my helmet was trying to leap off my head and I ran out of road.

08-05-2009, 8:41 PM
i shouldnt even post this, no laughs. but 72 is the fastest ive gone so far on my kz 650. oh well. i got plenty of time to go faster.

08-06-2009, 7:30 AM
Fastest ive been is an indicated 115 on my 883 sporty... it was still pullin "barely" but it was gettin way to light and wobbly for my taste.... My cousins husband has an old 98 BMW 1200 RS i need to borrow sometime LOL.

08-06-2009, 9:28 AM
I did about 130 on a 2008 ducati 1098 with less than 100 miles on it. it was the first time i ever rode a sport bike and it wasnt mine so i didnt want to open it up too much. smoothest bike i ever rode tho..

So much for the break in period. Worst part about buying a new bike.

08-06-2009, 10:41 AM
this is totaaly subjective... the fastest i'v been is about 120-125 on a cbr1000 15 years ago. it felt like 75

My BSA saw 80 a few times... felt like 367mph

My enfield saw 70 a few times felt like 273 mph

my sporty has seen 90 a few times in the month (2000 miles) since i got it.. feels like 90 (i just need a longer road)

08-06-2009, 10:49 AM
like, 100 maybe

08-06-2009, 11:04 AM
So much for the break in period. Worst part about buying a new bike.
I was in top gear and it was under 5 grand. Thats all I was told "keep it under 5 grand". I did pas a Ferrari tho, that was cool.

The speedo is off on my sporty and it was jumping between 75 and 90 with my wife on the back. I thought I was going 25 once and my friend was on his gsxr said i was doing 45 so I dunno...

08-06-2009, 5:44 PM
145 on a 95 yamaha fzr 600. I never thought it would go that fast, but it was fun.

08-06-2009, 7:02 PM

i hear ya i did 90mph or a vespa p200 downhill and that felt like i was going mach 3

08-06-2009, 7:46 PM
My sporty (pre chop) just broke the 5k mark on the odometer (official H-D break-in milage) on CA I-5 just crested a hill & rolled on the throttle. My first street bike & dying to see what it was capable of. Toped out at 121. I had never been that fast on or in anything before & it was fun, but I was a bit disapointed to be honest.

08-07-2009, 6:06 PM
Only 431 people out of 688 have ever gone fast on a bike? Good times to come for some.

08-07-2009, 6:13 PM
The fastest I have gone was on a bike without a speedometer so I don't know.

08-07-2009, 6:35 PM
149 on my 07 gsxr. fun stuff.

08-07-2009, 7:27 PM
i know it has four wheels, but i did 130 (as estimated by george and wendy) on this stupid thing

08-07-2009, 10:01 PM
i did about 175 on my friends hayabusa it was to much the speed was blinding

08-07-2009, 11:05 PM
~165 on my RC51. Funny thing is it didn't feel that fast. Anything over 85 on my springer classic feels too fast.

08-08-2009, 4:21 AM
I took my old gsxr up to about 130, anything after 110 is just a blur.

my old gsxf 600 hit 143, but i was wearing a jet helmet and sunglasses, i never did figure out where they suddenly went at topspeed! Having no eye-protection i felt the urge to slow down!

i hit 62 once with a friends bsa m20. scary shit!!!!

08-08-2009, 8:49 AM
175 on my RC51 at a track day in AZ, had a spedo recalibrater set with a GPS so that was pretty accurate. That bike ruled, never felt like you were going fast, it pulled hard through every gear all through the RPM range. That bike loved to go really fucking fast around corners. Rode it on EDR 1 & 2, wish I still had it.

08-08-2009, 12:21 PM
165 on a cbr, buried the needle at 140 on my buell lighting, buried the needle at 160 on my duc

08-08-2009, 1:13 PM
Just over 100 on an 83' cb1000. It had plenty of room for more but at my age you start thinking about your family needing you when you go above 90.

On the Amen Savior, anything over 65 and you are hanging on for dear life. I think I've hit about 80 on that according to the people we were riding with that day. Not something I like to do on that bike though.

Maybe one of the new projects will more easily hit 80 comfortably? We'll see.

08-08-2009, 1:19 PM
did 120 on a gsxr 1100

08-08-2009, 1:33 PM
Buddy of mine had a Magna & decided to sale it right before
going into the Navy. I got it to 120 very quickly (insane acceleration).
I wimped out & didn't press on further, I know It could have surpassed 150 effortlessly.
I almost bought the bike. ..... Looked just like this one.........
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e233/lairdog/th_18210_0_6_3_vf20110020c20-20v6520ma.jpg (http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e233/lairdog/?action=view&current=18210_0_6_3_vf20110020c20-20v6520ma.jpg)

One time I rode on the back a short distance over to the pitcher house for some beers.
after many beers we were heading back to manhattan beach, & He hit 100 on PCH with Me
on the back. scared the piss out of Me.

08-08-2009, 2:47 PM
138 roughly on my Trump - I average over a buck on every ride, so 130 isnt all that scary on a nice flat straight road.

dayummm!! i've built up quite a few of those things and couldn't get em over 120.

08-08-2009, 3:00 PM
135 on a 929rr I wanted to shit my pants.

08-08-2009, 7:30 PM
99mph in second gear on my friends R1.
A little over 100mph on a 74 hardtail honda 750 with 16" apes, and 6" over fork with no oil in them.
The gold wing won.

08-08-2009, 8:54 PM
ive done 147 a few times on my buddies gsxr600, my fatass wont let her go any faster. ive had the dyna up to 110

08-10-2009, 11:35 AM
95 on my Dad's Ducati 848 in second gear. That was enough for me.

08-14-2009, 2:25 PM
little over 120 on my brothers 92' vfr 750

08-14-2009, 2:29 PM
clocked in at over 115 on my dyna. Surreal feeling as I had to lay down on the tank to get the speed up with any stability.

08-14-2009, 10:04 PM
126 on the old ironhead, that is what the sherrifs deputy wrote on the ticket.

08-14-2009, 10:31 PM
Hit 100 on the Sporty then remembered I didn't want to be smeared across the highway. I'll still take it to about 80 around town when I'm feeling frisky.

08-15-2009, 12:46 AM
It's true what one of the guys said, it's all relative.
I have to ride big sportsbikes for work and have hit the rev limiter in top gear on all of them, it never feels like that big a deal.
But once you get much over 90 on my Triumph it feels (and looks, apparently) like I'm trying to control some kind of psychotic rowing machine.

08-15-2009, 2:01 AM
195 on a triple engined cb350. I had to mellow out.

08-15-2009, 1:20 PM
Mabey I'm a big pussy, but I broke my 100mph cherry on a softail...just to say that I did, but I don't need to go that fast.

08-16-2009, 9:10 AM
Haha. I had to "ton up" on the way to a cafe racer shindig yesterday.

08-16-2009, 10:22 PM
I've been over 200 but i don't know how much over cuz the speedo on my Turbo bike stopped at 160. It would go 161 at 8.90 in forth gear. That put it right around 300 HP, never had it on a dyno. Mathmatically it should have been able to go about 215 at 12000 rpm in fifth. I took it 12500 many times back in the day. I was young dumb and full of cum, but I'm building another turbo bike right now so I'll see how stupid I get now that I'm 53....

08-17-2009, 6:41 PM
153 on my zx7r at night on a NJ highway, racing a turbo eclipse/something or another. Dumb. No stabilizer the front end was floating like crazy. That car was pretty fast for a cage. I think I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt (too dumb).

10-26-2010, 10:11 PM
i hit 140 on my dads bmw k1100. it was like doing 140 while sitting on a couch. i guess i could have gone faster but i didn't need the ticket

10-26-2010, 10:14 PM
This weekend: 115ish. Not bad for my 790 Bonnie.

10-26-2010, 10:42 PM
a buck twenty....thats all the girl had in her...

10-26-2010, 10:42 PM
Got an R1 that was tuned up over 160 on the I-5 in the Oceanside area. Miss judged some traffic and let off the throttle after having to go into the shoulder. My big ass HD moves pretty well and I got pulled over for triple digits and riding between cars. CHP let me go. Lucky for me I had my uniform shirt with me.

10-26-2010, 10:47 PM
And Temecula Terry said I'm one of the few Harleys that passed him. Straight line at least. Floorboards drag too soon in turns.

10-26-2010, 10:47 PM
182 on my sporty. nrhs works wonders

10-26-2010, 10:50 PM
145 on my ol cbr fighter

10-27-2010, 12:26 AM
got a ticket fa doing 135 mph on a mach 3 kwaka in the 1970 s

10-27-2010, 1:56 AM
120 on my '08 1200N on the Cross Island Expressway in Queens. Buried the needle, and let off. Just had to see if she could do it.

10-27-2010, 4:18 AM
110/115 on a daily basis on my Vulcan on the way to work. That fucker wouldn't go any faster, hahahaha

10-27-2010, 8:58 AM
Fastest I ever went on a bike was 115-120 on my 75 CB750. Got the KZ up to 80 and it felt like 230.
The fastest Ive ever driven though was in my 93 Z28, 155mph on Rt 80 in NJ coming home from a party in PA. I was young and stupid, and would never ever do that again.

10-27-2010, 9:11 AM
the fastest I've ever gone on a bike with a speedo was 125 on a 1972 Norton 750 . You would think that going fast is going fast and that's all there is to it , but going that fast on an old machine seems so much more mechanical and burly than doing it on my 2008 Buell Ulysses .

I've gone close to that on the Buell but never bothered to try and go too much more than that . . . no good reason .

10-27-2010, 9:13 AM
110 on my softy the other day when I looked down but like some of the other guys, I don't look at the speedo much over 100. This is my first bike with a working speedo, or a speedo at all so that's the fastest I can say for sure.

10-27-2010, 9:16 AM
Not sure, no speedo; but the guys I was riding with said they were doin 90-95 and I just walked away from them. The guess was 110ish.

10-27-2010, 9:25 AM
168-170 on my ZX-10R

10-27-2010, 9:29 AM
135mph- and believe this or not ( although i despise viragos) it was on a 1983 750cc virago .

10-27-2010, 10:07 AM
I've been a measured 169.8 MPH on my former bike: GSXR1K Turbo.

Of course I think that was in a shorter distance than most peoples runs here. Mine was at the dragstrip ;) from a stop to 170 in 1320 feet is a big rush.

http://www.fquick.com/images/vehicles/full/959459438.jpg (http://www.fquick.com/garages/viewgallery.php?action=viewimg&id=59438)

Yes I red lighted.

10-27-2010, 10:17 AM
188MPH radar verified on my well tuned GSXR1000 I think she had 2 more MPH left in her but ran outta road.

10-27-2010, 11:03 AM
170 on my ZX-7R back in 05 in some roads in MD, My friends R1 passed me like I was parked.

10-27-2010, 11:12 AM
170 speedo indicated on my buddies 2010 R1. I have been over 150 many times but the R1was suprisingly smooth and didn't do too bad. with my big ass on it it was probably really only in the 160 range but hey the speedo said it so I'll claim it!

10-27-2010, 3:45 PM
150 on my old '01 R1, just had to try it once lol. Coulda pushed it more but I was running out of highway.

10-27-2010, 6:37 PM
I'll jump in on the R1 trend, got mine to 165 on some back roads when I was 18. Pegged my Triumph 675 out at 165 on the straightaway at Roebling Road racetrack many times.

10-27-2010, 10:25 PM
156 on my FZR 600 in 1987 earlier that night did 140 with wife (then girlfriend) on the back.
right after they repaved IH 20 it was 5 lanes of brand new asphalt .....Sure was smooth!

10-27-2010, 10:56 PM
I hit about 140 on the Tacoma Narrows with my old cbr when I was younger on a regular basis. My vulcan 800 will go up to 115 before I feel like the wind it gonna rip me off the bike. I'm sure it will go faster but I wont want to ride any faster than that on a cruiser.

10-27-2010, 11:24 PM
195mph at Spokane race way on my GSXR 1000 race bike. Radar gun so it's true. Very long strait at that track. That bike was insane. 185 rwhp. Bought of a buddy that raced AMA. It would go 100 in first gear.

10-28-2010, 9:24 AM
163 on my old R6 back in the day... great feeling, but i don't do that kind of riding anymore. Now i ride my R1 alittle more cautious. don't think i've hit over 100 on it actually...

10-28-2010, 6:30 PM
180 on cbr1000

10-28-2010, 7:01 PM
i had a 05 zx 636 . i did 120 on it , that was plenty for me

10-28-2010, 7:05 PM
Uh I'd say i've probably been about 140-150 real speeds on sport bikes. I don't know how off those speedo's are at that point maybe 20mph off. Top speed runs are fun but i prefer to cruise right around 85-95 miles an hour on any bike.

10-28-2010, 7:32 PM
Let me first say that I used to ride like an idiot. And that I came from sportbikes to choppers.

900rr 186 (where the governor kicks in at) on multiple occasions. Including evading black and whites and even once in the rain. I used to wheelie the bike at 75 plus and even pulled it up once from 110 and powered through to 120. I've done 170 with a passenger.

RC51 165 with a passenger(her bike)

fzr600 130

lots of other bikes well over 100mph.

I did 110 on my hardtail intruder two weeks ago and have had it at 105 with a passenger.

10-28-2010, 8:04 PM
154 on a 96 CBR600

10-28-2010, 10:24 PM
162 on an fz 750. back in my young and stupid days.

10-28-2010, 10:31 PM
95mph. That's good enough for now. Already cruising with a leaky gasket. Don't wanna blow it out completely.

10-28-2010, 11:01 PM
Give it throttle till you see god...then hold it.

I can hit about a buck 25 on the rigid, no problem. It's the hi-ways at that speed that raise the pucker factor.

Got a nice ticket from the great state of Texas for 117 in a 70. That was on a bone stock softy with an 18 year dame on the back. Good times, good times.

10-29-2010, 3:08 PM
God damn, you guys can read the speedo at that speed? I had been to about 120 m.p.h. on my friends RZ 350, but when I rode a 1992 GSXR 1100 pegged, dude, I was too busy rushing to even glance anywhere else. I do know one thing though, you see GOD at 150!

10-29-2010, 3:22 PM
168 when I shut down to look. It was an off ramp and the brakes faded almost into the intersection. For obvious reasons, I don't attempt fate anymore. Now I take into there 120/130 average, no prob. I saw 170 something one time was the fastest.

10-29-2010, 3:42 PM
holy shit i think i got everything cntrhub said you got to sticky that post

10-29-2010, 3:55 PM
I attempted fate one time.I got scared and since then I don't.

I went 130 on my wifes 06 streetbob the day I bought it on the way home just to see what it would do,it does plenty.
My rigid vibrates to much after 80 mph but I took it to 90 once then my gas cap fell off and I had to turn around and spend a half hour trying to find it.I did learn that a jersey glove makes a pretty sweet gas cap in a pinch if your not scared of maltov cocktails.

10-29-2010, 4:06 PM
135 on a 1982 CB1100F. Never again. It was on a long ass bridge by Biloxi MS. Half way across there was a bunch of metal wavey grates and I immediately puckered up......

10-29-2010, 11:18 PM
200 on my daytona bike got 16th on a 97 gsxr750, had 170 horses in that bad boy wish I still had it

10-29-2010, 11:19 PM
185 on a freinds R1,he never loaned it to me again.

10-30-2010, 8:02 AM
140 (speedo said) on my Buell Lightning. Cheapo leather jacket of mine sprouted wings!

10-30-2010, 8:22 PM
one time this guy got it upto about 40, pretty damn fast on 2 wheels........:)

10-30-2010, 8:23 PM
soooooryyyyyyy forgotee linkeeee

10-30-2010, 8:34 PM
fast enough to scare the livin shit out of me

10-30-2010, 8:37 PM
i went over 90 on a 72 cb450 once. that was pretty scary too. i always get the " what the fuck is gonna break" jitters

10-30-2010, 8:51 PM
I think 60, but that was when the speed linit was 55 MPH! I love going fast and breaking the law....Whew...never do that again...that was WAY too fast for anybody's good!!!!!!

10-31-2010, 9:54 PM
142 by gps on my 08 sportie. with skinny bars on it. thats all she had. that was coming downhill out of the mountains of western md. She cruises at 100 all the time, 120 a lot, and anything after that sounds like its going to explode.

.... and i thought i was going to be just "cruising" on my lil skirtster.

10-31-2010, 10:48 PM
The speedo on my 07 dyna goes up to 120mph. I had the needle well past that multiple times. Thats with a set of 12" z bars.

10-31-2010, 11:53 PM
118 indicated on an 82 sporty in 85

11-01-2010, 10:59 AM
152 on my brother's ducati 851. thats where things started happening faster than my harley experience has taken me. he had it to 166

11-01-2010, 3:56 PM
110 on my 1999 Triumph Legend, and im a fatty, 275lbs. going that fast is not advised!

11-01-2010, 5:10 PM
Around 130 on my CBR. I was kinda worried about getting a ticket on the 55 so I back off.

11-02-2010, 7:53 AM
165 on a barrowed tl 1000. When i took it back I said damn that thing is fast...... and then i asked him how fast he had went on it.and h e said i almost had it up to 100 the other day. I decided that i should never ride a sport bike again. Because i like living.

11-02-2010, 1:24 PM
145 on a Yamaha FZR 600. I think it was a 1995. Nothing scared me more than going that fast and having my face shield blow open.

11-02-2010, 6:02 PM
145 on a Yamaha FZR 600. I think it was a 1995. Nothing scared me more than going that fast and having my face shield blow open.
It's no joke when shit like that happens at high speeds. I had a fairing rip off and knock my foot off the peg at 120. I almost lost control of the bike and went over the bridge I was on.

11-09-2010, 9:21 PM
168 on my old TL1000R, piped and jetted. Ran right past two motor-cops and had to take the first exit, park the bike and head into Bestbuy till the heat went away.

11-09-2010, 10:20 PM
110 on my sporty, went past my buddy on his iron 883 like he was stood still,i prefer rippin thru traffic at a slower speed, more fun!!

11-11-2010, 12:57 AM
I got up to 143 on my Ducati 749, still had plenty left in the engine, but ran out of road. Got two kids now so that won't be happening again. I think i get the triumph up near 70, thats just fine with me maye even 65 to keep it "legal"

11-11-2010, 3:50 AM
Mmmmmmm, speed
What I want more of
What my sloppy clutch wont grab ahold of
Where I am imaculate against the shinny BMW sides flying by
On the highway 70 is but silly
To the passing blue haired granny
But there are those who do not dare to pass the wicked Blue Witch
Maybe for fear of everlasting retribution in a ditch
To scare the blue hare off her turning left in front of ya constitution
But non the less
I do detest
The slow poke in the group
That fat fucker that makes me want to puke
Or all the broken down WOW machines
Who couldn't make it real
No matter who built them
As all the other bikes thunder by
What a great builder am I
We made it
At last....
But the party has passed into the next day
Where were you
Too fucking solber to fucking tell YOU
So wheres the beer?
Gone, long gone, where were you
Just off being cool
So where's the beer
It went at about 170 mph faster than you!

11-11-2010, 12:17 PM
not sure, whatever speed my 636 street fighter hit the limiter at . i've never gotten out of or off of anything and said "that's fast enough" i once put a 115 mariner on a 13 foot boston whaler boat, and i've been racing cars my whole life (driving them since i was 14) here's a couple of videos of my last drag car. all home built by the way.

^^^639.7 rwhp dyno pull video, worth watching ^^^
i likes to go fast :-)

11-12-2010, 6:14 AM
Warp factor 9.3

She'd no take any more captain.

11-13-2010, 9:50 PM
170 on some guys street bike don't recall what it was. stopping for a stop light was the real thrill going fast no big deal. buck ten on a guys twincam bagger trying to hang with a buell on windy roads, pretty funny shit cause the guy could'nt leave me. 140 in a modified fox body mustang 5.0 not bad for an automatic.

09-08-2014, 10:40 AM
about 89 and pissing myself when i was 22 on my Dad's old Ducati. I've only had my 99 Triumph up to 80ish, but there is still a lot of torque to explore.

09-08-2014, 10:45 AM
I got clocked at 285km/hour, which equals 177mph. I was still accelerating, and luckily the cops didnt get my tag number, but one of them knew my old man and dropped by to tell me to slow down.
Was way too fast for the POS I was riding too. Speedo didnt read that high, soI had to takethe cops word. Was some retarded big bore kit on an old GS750, no fenders, half a seat, hardtail, Think it weighed about 400lbs wet.

09-08-2014, 2:09 PM
115 on my Sportster. Feels like I'm doing 65. Smooth as hell.

09-08-2014, 2:22 PM
115 on my Sportster. Feels like I'm doing 65. Smooth as hell.

Shit must be on a rubber mount sporty.

On my rigid solid mount sporty with solid riser bushings. Did 100 felt like I was doing 200 and the whole thing wanted to vibrate apart

09-08-2014, 2:37 PM
120 on a 1980 gs 750.. time slows down and it felt like it was going to explode..
95 on my xs650 same feeling..

09-08-2014, 6:36 PM
147 on a yamaha v max when i was 12 behind my dad. have gone 162 in a car. my sporty has buried the speedo at 120 and it was still pulling for the three solid minutes i held it until it started to float the valvetrain, i bet my sporty does 140. 99% sure it is not stock. beats my buddies 96" and 103's, actually the only one that everyone thinks is faster is my buddies built FXR (80") which is apparently 120+horse.

my asphalt sled will do about 130 in the quarter. thats a whole different kind of fast.... you couldnt steer if you wanted to.

09-08-2014, 7:23 PM
2004 883XL 105-ish several times

1967 Ironhead Chopper 87mph...and thought I was going to die.

2007 Road King 110-ish

09-08-2014, 8:41 PM
192 on modified 1000 my friend owns. Before that 180 on a modified cbr I owned. Lost my license shortly after that.

09-08-2014, 10:44 PM
I was doing 74+ not ten minutes ago!!!

...on my new savage lol

The VZ goes about 80. I don't push it much past that. 16 tooth front sprocket sounds like an airplane winding out.

Maybe 160 on my cousins ZX6r a few years ago.

09-08-2014, 11:32 PM
110 on my Road King on a long straight stretch of west Texas road. The bike began to get light and feel poorly connected to the road. Then the thought of a tire blowout at that speed caused me to lose my nerve so I wussed out and backed off.

09-08-2014, 11:43 PM
I went this fast!!

09-08-2014, 11:49 PM
K5 GSX-R 1000. Digital speedo doesn't read beyond 186mph.

09-09-2014, 8:24 AM
196mph according to the police man on highly modified busa was 19, lost my DL for 6 years, $5,000 in court and lawyer fees 120 hours of community service (which wasn't that bad met some really awesome ww2 vets) and for the first year I got my DL back was restricted to under 120hp, which was cool with me as I had just bought my harley

09-09-2014, 8:40 AM
Not one for self incrimination on the interwebs, I ride nice and slow and only to church.

130 on an 84 KZ550 LTD shaft 4cyl. Nice little bike, one of my best bikes and my first owned.

09-09-2014, 9:44 AM
Shit must be on a rubber mount sporty.

On my rigid solid mount sporty with solid riser bushings. Did 100 felt like I was doing 200 and the whole thing wanted to vibrate apart

Exactly. Every time I even think about getting close to 100, as I'm hitting the throttle, mentally I'm trying to remember the last time I tightened down all the screws and bolts.

I did 100 on my buddy's lil '89 KZ 454ltd...i barely felt any vibration. .

09-09-2014, 10:21 AM
What's the fastest I've gone on two wheels? TOO fast!:D

09-09-2014, 10:39 AM
when i was younger 175 or so on a gxer1000 felt like 175
-110 on my fatboy-felt like it
-90 on my friend ys650 ridged "bobber" felt like 300mph
-100 on my shovel-felt like 150-need more locktite on it i found out, floating gas tank at that speed is not cool

09-09-2014, 11:46 AM
This thread reminds me of the 'Tulsa Guy'. ( LINK (http://www.snopes.com/photos/accident/tulsacrash.asp) )

but... ATGATT.

I hit 100 on the Ironhead on the freeways here. theres a stretch I get carried away on from time to time and when it opens up I open it up and before I know it I'm blasting past cars and doing the shimmy shimmy shake before I realize (no speedo) I'm going too fast.

Was with the wife once and she said she tried to keep up with me but stopped at 90 and I was still going faster.

09-09-2014, 11:56 AM
I have no concept of speed when I'm on the bike.. I'm always trying to get in front of traffic, so if they're speeding I'm probably going way too fast for the road.
speedometer is a must for my wallet and I.

09-09-2014, 12:19 PM
162 on a 2000 Triumph Daytona. I owned a CBR600rr until about a month ago, I couldn't keep the thing under 100 to save my life, which is precisely why it's gone now. My wife has been with me during my last two year long license suspensions (I also had two before her, as a kid). I figured I'd better stick to riding slow bikes fast for my kicks, they'd probably just shoot me on the spot if I got caught going that fast these days. I will say that going 80+ on my XS chop was a lot scarier than 147 on the CBR. Apparently I'm just not meant to own fast bikes, it was a relief when I came to terms with the fact.

09-09-2014, 3:00 PM
ive done like 105 on my 98 harley super glide. feels like slow motion until you remember how fast you're going on a fucking motorcycle.
usually the mental image of the motor exploding or hitting a dropped trans on the road scares me back into slowing down haha.

09-09-2014, 7:56 PM
I had a Guzzi 850 Lemans that would pull 152 with out tucking in and the stroked Sporty would run and hide from it but it never had a speedo.

09-09-2014, 7:59 PM
110 on the back of a buddie's Ninja back in high school. It's not as gay as it sounds. No helmets & I had no say in the matter. Fuck that.

09-09-2014, 11:00 PM
I've done a buck even on my GS450....well, I think. My speedo is a little unstable and wobbles the fuck back and forth at anything above 60, haha. And it only does it in 6th gear, downhill! Usually cruise around at 75 or 80.

09-09-2014, 11:39 PM
'79 KZ1000 aftermarket speedo said 155ish but I don't know how far off it really was. I don't think that thing could get up that high. Then I've had quite a few bikes around 120. I don't like to go that fast on the street, never know what can happen. Just had my 2012 XR1200 up to 110 tonight, 5 speed + V twin = not getting above that.

09-11-2014, 12:14 AM
Somewhere between 110 and 115 on my Monster.

09-11-2014, 6:38 AM
140 on my ironhead. At least that's what the car I was racing said :)

09-11-2014, 7:14 AM
180 ish.. GSXR 1000 and my R1.

09-11-2014, 9:45 AM

My 4 speed + vtwin has some leg left at 110, I've just never had the balls to test anything more. my Avons tires and the rain grooves are not the best of friends as it is.

09-11-2014, 12:50 PM
My first bike (early 80s gs450) couldn't get past 85 on its own. My second (kz650) would do 100 pretty well, but I wasn't comfortable with that. Most recently I ride past a maybe mile long car pool & motorcycle lane that is always empty on the way to work, and have NEVER seen a cop on that stretch. On the GL1000, I'd get in that lane doing maybe 65, crack open the throttle and run it up as fast as I can before I needed to get back in normal lane or came up behind somebody. Not sure I ever broke 100, but seems likely. Wind was pretty vicious over 90 though, even with a full face helmet.

09-12-2014, 8:47 PM
188mph on a CBR1000RR

this is the fastest ive clocked myself on my evo

09-12-2014, 8:57 PM
no way i would have taken that fucking picture

09-13-2014, 12:23 AM
186 mph riding my 2007 zx14 @ the 210 @2:00 am, hold it for 3 minutes only (that was like 5 years ago) ... I had fun building that bike and riding it, put a bunch of money on it... But I like my freedom so it had to go. (no self restraint at all) I guess I'm getting old...

09-13-2014, 6:50 AM

09-22-2014, 1:43 PM
Just past the 120MPH mark on the speedo on my sporty. I am sure it was more like 115 or so in real life. Still pulling pretty hard... evos are no joke.

09-22-2014, 4:52 PM
About 190 landing a disabled DeHavilland Beaver in Cambodia.....unless ya count an afterburner takeoff in an F-105... (2 rear wheels leave last)...prolly about 240mph....lol....you asked... ;)

09-22-2014, 7:38 PM
Damn Wolfie that's flying.(pun intended )

09-22-2014, 7:47 PM
160mph on my zx10r... wearing more gear I would've pushed it to the limit

09-22-2014, 10:15 PM
Ive gone a tick over 100mph on a friends 95 KX500 on the dirt. (that's some scary shit!!). Gone past 110mph on the speedo of my old 95 Honda VLX 600. ( bike only weighed 350lbs when i was done with it.) Hit 115mph with room to go on my "new to me" 2000 honda VT 1100. (It was only the third day i had it so i had to test it, haha.) Fastest ive ever Driven was 120mph in my little 2007 Kia Spectra (all stock and dont know why the governer never kicked in) over 140mph in a friends 1970 Chevelle and 155mph in a friends 2000 Audi A6 4.2 Quattro. (niether friend will let me drive anymore, haha.) On every single one of those runs im pretty sure i was prairie doggin it!!

09-23-2014, 5:11 PM
29 on my schwinn ten speed in 1965

09-24-2014, 9:50 PM
...and I'm a psychotic moron. ;)

And for anyone who actually trusts their speedometer, I held the bike between an indicated 190mph to 180mph for the entire Measured Mile & my slip said 167.563mph

09-25-2014, 11:50 AM
Just returned from a 1,950 mile round trip to Madison, WI. Apparently hit 93+ mph on my 01' Vulcan 1500 loaded down with camping gear. More impressed with an average moving speed of 67 mph. :p

09-25-2014, 1:10 PM
160mph on my zx10r... wearing more gear I would've pushed it to the limit

At that speed gear becomes just something to make the morticians job easier should anything go wrong!

09-25-2014, 1:26 PM
192 on my '02 Busa, according to my zumo. I hear about all these 200 mph bikes but mine won't do it.

09-25-2014, 1:53 PM
192 on my '02 Busa, according to my zumo. I hear about all these 200 mph bikes but mine won't do it.

I never had a stocker that fast, but my first turbo busa had me topped out at 218mph per the GPS. Thats a little less than it was geared for but it was all I could get - I was hoping to get to the 220 mark.

I think things are actually pretty calm at those speeds - you are only worried about 1 thing in the world, and normal everyday problems dont exist.

09-26-2014, 9:51 AM

I think things are actually pretty calm at those speeds - you are only worried about 1 thing in the world, and normal everyday problems dont exist.

This quote may get me killed.

09-26-2014, 3:06 PM
105 on a XR-650/710
100 on my old 883R
160 on my old TL-1000s

But in the last 5 years I think my top is around 85

09-26-2014, 8:05 PM
160 on my Triumph Rocket III and I had some more to go, but it was fast enough.

09-29-2014, 3:51 PM
But in the last 5 years I think my top is around 85

Damn, I do that when I'm late for work. 5 mile ride so it ain't gonna help anyway.

10-07-2014, 4:43 AM
Ive done 160 on my brothers R1, and 110 on the hardtail shovel that I had

10-07-2014, 5:56 PM
Did an indicated 90 on my RE Bullet, felt like my teeth were going to vibrate out.......110 indicated on my ironhead sporty with P cams, forged 10.5:1.0 pistons, titanium valves, racing valve springs, open dump pipes, and a 44 DCOE Weber carb with one tooth smaller on the drive sprocket......... 120 MPH indicated on my 04' 883 Sporty with 1200 kit, 10:1 pistons, W cams, ported heads with bigger valves, V&H pipes, reworked stock carb, screamin' chicken air cleaner, and ignition....... 140 MPH indicated on my Ducati 906 Paso with euro jetting, F-1 pipes, and one tooth smaller countershaft sprocket........ 135 MPH indicated on my Ducati 900SS/CR down one tooth on the countershaft sprocket....... 137 MPH indicated on my old 85' K100 BMW, stock, going down a big hill with a tailwind....... 120 MPH indicated, at redline and straining it's guts out, on my old Z-1 with headers and rejet.......125 MPH indicated at redline on my old R90S BMW, stock configuration except for K&N air filter......... 125 MPH indicated on my 06' carbed Triumph Thruxton about 200 rpm into redline with pod kit and BC megaphones....... 110 MPH indicated on my 85' HD Electra Glide and weaving like a drunk sailor, don't know what has been done to the engine but it has S&S Super E carb, true duals, and will pull the front wheel in second gear....... 155 MPH indicated on my 06' FZ6, stock (speedo must have been pretty far off)........ and.... my personal best on two wheels...... 162 MPH pulling about 300 rpm past redline on my 91' Ducati 851 Superbike, tuned by Feracci with race chip, top of air cleaner removed, carbon mufflers, two tooth smaller rear sprocket, and who knows what else. Fastest in a car recorded on speedo was in my son's terminator mustang at 145...... actual fastest was when I was 17 driving my COPO 427 Camaro. It was turning 7000 rpm in forth gear, according to the tach, sounded and felt like I was in the space shuttle during liftoff, the speedo went waaaay past 120, past the small AC mark in the bottom center of the gauge, and almost touching the "0" mark on the other side. That nice sweeper at the end of the straightaway turned into a 90 degree turn at that speed and it took both my lanes (4 lane highway at 2:00 in the morning) to slither around it on those big fat bias tires....... Damn, what a rush. I am 60 now and can remember it like it was last night !!!!! The speeds on all these bikes were as fast as I could get them to go...... I weigh about 145 lbs and was tucked down under the paint. When going flat out one must remember that most speedo's are at least 10% off, except some of the Kawasaki 900 and 1000 speedometers. With claims of 145-165 (I hear this all the time) in third and forth gear they must be 30+ percent incorrect.........

10-07-2014, 6:30 PM
Damn, I do that when I'm late for work. 5 mile ride so it ain't gonna help anyway.

I'm getting old and the 2.5lb of steel in my hip/leg/arm are starting to slow me down...
It happens

140 solo on my 81 KZ1000, and like 110-150 with the woman on the back of a rented dyna.

10-07-2014, 7:31 PM
120 on a Ducati Multistrada. Hit the governor in my Volvo S60 T5 at 130.

10-07-2014, 9:22 PM
I'm getting old and the 2.5lb of steel in my hip/leg/arm are starting to slow me down...
It happens

Getting there myself. I used to run full throttle, top gear on EVERY machine I touched, 2 or 4 wheeled. Triple digit speeds seem a little unnecessary now, except I did do 105 trying to make the dump before it closed. Sucks getting old, but it sure beats the alternative!

10-09-2014, 4:13 PM
speed is subjective for sure...I did a confirmed 120 on my Sporty on Dual Sport tires several years back and at the time it was set up for hand shifting..let me tell you when I had to let go of the handlebars and grab for 5th gear that was some sketchy shit...
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q175/james_brandon/shfSporty.jpg (http://s136.photobucket.com/user/james_brandon/media/shfSporty.jpg.html)
recently I did an estimated 110-120 on my stripped '81 Goldwing Interstate..

both of which was as fast as I wanted to go...you definitely start getting tunnel vision and holding on for dear life at those speeds on these types of bikes. I was in street clothes with no helmet either time with a little liquid courage pulsing through my veins...and while it's not 2 wheels I'd have to say one the fastest speeds ive gone was 85 in my '47 Olds 98..flathead straight 8 with bias-plys...it took a while to get there and just goin straight the steering wheel was all over the place...again..alcohol was involved..haha

My fastest bike (5 speed, short gears) tops out at a hair under 100... I'm embarassed.

10-11-2014, 12:49 PM
The cop said 165mph

10-12-2014, 11:16 AM
I had my old 86 Yamaha fazer up to 140mph, on speedo, with no fairing. I also had my 82 rd350lc up to 120mph a few times, had the engine seize up at that speed once!! The longest skid I ever did, until I remembered to pull in the clutch, lol. That was all when I was young and invincible. That fazer would do wheelie with rear tire smoking, that was fun.

10-12-2014, 12:34 PM
The cop said 165mph
And then he said "Turn around, put your hands on the car, and spread 'em"

95 on a stage 5 lambretta down M1 from brid scoot rally in about 1995............sexual but scary..
170 on a fireblade on A5, A444, M6, anywhere I could,, was to easy to do ( you aint breathing if that goes tits up at that speed),
100 on my l'il sportster hardtail , As exciting as 170 on fireblade but without the risk of a seize of a tuned lambretta. (about the same amount of bits shake loose tho)

its all relative,

50mph on a pushbike is as scary.(down a big hill)
as is about 30 on a tea tray down a hill on the snow.

10-12-2014, 2:51 PM
I went all the way thru Ga. on I-95 and no less than a buck fifteen back in 1990. I was pretty young then, now a days I know Im going over 90mph give or take when the skin on my neck starts flappin! thats good enuff for me.

10-12-2014, 8:49 PM
150 on my old 1998 GSXR 750, street clothes with a helmet... stupid stupid...

10-13-2014, 12:17 PM
176 mph on a hyabusa. buddy said take it for a test run so i did lol

no tag line here.

10-13-2014, 6:06 PM
Like everybody else, on a street bike. But I topped out my 2008 Yamaha R6 on Pocono Raceway FUSA on the NASCAR straight. I didn't bother checking out my speedo with the turn coming up. I could just see the shift light going crazy.

10-14-2014, 7:30 AM
I can't say for sure how fast my my Max speed has been but when I first started riding sports bikes I did an indicated 182 mph (2006 gsxr 1000) with a few buddies in a group on the long straight back roads in Iowa. I got hit by another bike and realized behavior like that was gonna get me killed. Almost lost my right arm from it. So I got into choppers and now have a 99 buell m2 cyclone hardtail chopper that I regularly go over 110 on no problems. I know that I have ridden it close to 130 mph on the motorway here in Finland from an on ramp wide open next to my friend on a new yamaha fz6 with a speedo he said we broke over 210 kmh (125mph) and he was very impressed that he could not get away from me even when the road started to get curvy. If any one wants to call bullshit on me there are more then a few members on here who can attest to how fast my Buell chop is. I know I am whore about pics of my bike but here is one of the Buell chopper

I can prove 149 one handed, I've been faster with both hands, but I don't expect anyone to take my word for it on the internet.

04-14-2015, 4:38 PM
209mph - GPS (most bikes are about 5-10 percent high on the speedometer) Turbo Hayabusa

04-14-2015, 5:38 PM
275kph on an empty freeway in the south of Spain with the mrs (now ex) on the back.

04-14-2015, 6:34 PM
110 down hill on my Triumph 750, wobbling.

04-14-2015, 10:45 PM
152 on a GSXR down a two lane pothole road. Love that felling though and would do it over and over.

04-15-2015, 4:18 AM
YEah, everyones seen On Any Sunday, probably a million times, but these scenes always blow my mind. Fucking 100-120 in the straights and then pitching it sideways on the turns. Those guys had some big brass balls I tell ya. I'm a pussy and nervous at 75 on my Triumph, mainly because I'm afraid something will rattle loose and I'll die, hehe.

About 110 on a rigid sportster with my lady on the back. Lost my oil tank cap and a bunch of oil. When I stopped, I noticed that since I run low pressure in my rear tire, the tire got taller due to centrifugal force, and the nut holding the seat on cut a deep groove in the center on the tire. That could ruin your day.

04-16-2015, 8:29 AM
Right at 130mph on a 1973 Kawasaki H2 750. They don't call them widowmakers for nothing!

04-18-2015, 10:04 AM
Had my 04 Hyabusa indicated 270K on a road in B.C., probably 250 in reality. Spent a day and a half in Coconino County (Flagstaff) in '99 for being clocked at 123mph in a 60 lol. took them half an hour to catch me and my buddy. I was on a '98 VFR800 and my buddy was on a ZX7. Got it out of my system and hardly break 90mph anymore.

04-19-2015, 12:14 AM
I needled both sport bikes I've owned.

300km/h on my old 95 cbr100f. That was back in Australia in 1998.

280km/h here in canada on my 95 gsxr 750. This was out in lilooett a couple of years back.

Now I ride Harleys and my xs650 chop. Lol

04-20-2015, 7:27 AM
Don't remember exactly how fast. Me and a buddy were riding home on New Years Day, freezing our asses off, doing 100+ I was on my softail, he was on an FXR...trying to get home as fast as possible. When I slowed to grab my exit, the bars felt like they were a thousand pounds. Sitting at the light, I looked down at my front tire and it was flat. I have no idea how long it was flat....I know it wasn't like that when we left. There was a gas station right there, so I try to put air in and it was coming out just as fast as it was going in. I limped home with a flat on the front. Riding the last mile @ 1 mph was the hardest.

2000 zx12r modified

207 mph tail lights of tractor trailers 100 meters apart look like one red line of light beside you.

09-27-2016, 6:53 PM
160 on my buddies Yamaha V Max back in the early 90's and I will tell you it didn't take long to get there. I don't even think I was in high gear.

09-27-2016, 9:35 PM
115 on my 1100 Vstar with Z bars. No fairing. I let out of it after a few seconds. Thankfully I'm not as fucking dumb as I used to be.

09-27-2016, 9:43 PM
Super fast.

09-28-2016, 9:25 AM
110 ish on a stripped down 81 GL1100 (speedo only went to 85, and it was about 10% slow. I buried the needle and my buddy said we were going that fast) 100 on my '09 Heritage. Normally don't go over 90 if I don't have to.

11-16-2016, 5:34 PM
175 multiple times on my cbr 1000

11-17-2016, 4:01 AM
120 on an 03 fayboy. Was all it had in it. I lived in West Texas. Good roads. Flat. You can see for miles. Middle of nowhere with no traffic. The birds flying out of the bushes on the side of the road was the scariest part.

Pretty sure I got around 150+ on an 07 Ducati. But I can't recall where I topped out - it was too fast to look away from the road.

11-17-2016, 9:47 AM
Crossing northern Nevada was like that. There were areas where the road was narrower than a residential street, limit was 75, and you could see to the horizon. 100+ was a totally reasonable cruising speed... if you weren't worried about running out of gas, because the next station was in 200 miles.

So, good story....

I'm riding through Nebraska after camping with some freaks in CA (http://www.wastelandweekend.com/) and coming through Nevada (see above). Big load of cargo on my FJ1100, custom rack that has a 2x3 foot platform, loaded with camp gear and desert dust all over everything. Doing 75 or 80, just enough to pass most cars but not get a ticket. Big HD pull past me, rider has a "Bandidos MC Nebraska" jacket on. Guy is doing 90 or so. I'm like, oh, cool, pick up the pace and hang with him. Nice bike, after 5 minutes or so I start crawling up to get a closer look. So he picks up the pace... so I do... so he does. So I just open it up, pull up next to him, and give a "rev up and go" gesture... and we do.

I think I pulled ahead at about 115, and maxed out at 125. Bike will do 140 if I have enough space to run up, but all that cargo...

Fun done, I drop back to 5 feet or so behind, and we ride the next 50 miles or so at triple digit speeds. :) He had to pull off for gas or something after that, and I didn't follow.

That's actually the second time I've had an "escort" from an MC member. Seems to happen every time I do a 500+ mile ride in the midwest / plains states and have a load of camping gear. The other fella (from Devils Diciples MC Indiana) wasn't as friendly, passed me REALLY close on the left while I was in the left lane. Coulda snagged his getback whip. Him I just waited for my exit to be within 10 miles, then dropped my wrist and vanished over the horizon. His bike wasn't really worth a close look.

Not sure if its common for them to just check out / escort any bike that looks like its pulling long miles, or if the big "rat fink" patch on my jacket (minus any other patches, and a high viz mesh jacket, so obviously NOT colors) has something to do with it.

Always heard about the dreaded dresser wobble and never felt it, one day had my 86 Classic going over 90mph and started to get a little wiggle, said "Oh there it is" and never went that fast again.

11-17-2016, 7:03 PM
125 on a Kawi S2 350 two stroke running down the backside of a long bridge....with a tailwind.
When I was still riding the track on an SV650 I probably did better on the backstretch at the local track but, with no speedo, I'll never know.

11-17-2016, 11:12 PM
On the street? Red line, top gear on my much breathed on R1. Not sure how fast since stock speedo was a bit off. Top speed in stock trim was about 170 and since I had about 30+ hp over stock I figure well over 180. Still, seemed like cruising compared to top speed (110+) on 2 lane farm roads on this;

Fastest I've ever been is 145mph more or less, on my dad's suzuki. It's pretty normal for me to go 200kmh while going to dinner in a tee and jeans and mx helmet so I'm not riding sport bikes anymore.
Fastest I've felt, as Motocrash experienced, is going full throttle up single-lane mountain twisties on my crf450r, looks like seeing death's own ass at every drift
Fastest on my sporty, 80 on the freeway, it doesn't go any faster LOL

11-21-2016, 4:12 PM
Speedo just touched 161 on my Buell (1125cr) I think that's all out and ready to blow up for that bike. It sure is a fun little bike though and it's windy as fuck at that speed

11-21-2016, 5:10 PM
About 135 on my r nine T faster than I care to go again on a bike without a fairing .

11-25-2016, 7:48 PM
Fastest i got was P. on. Mph

11-25-2016, 8:07 PM
185 .....

Was on the Nos ... Turbo on Hi-Boost running Turbo-Blue Race Fuel .....

Had a lot of faith in the Bell that day....

I'm still here you tell ya....

Ran out of gear.... Baker 6-Speed will get me in the 200 MPH Club..

Then she asked ......

On my old GSXR 600 I hit 157. Looking back now how I used to ride and some of the crashes I've been in, it's more about the Cruz than the blur now.

11-27-2016, 12:38 PM
my at the time brand new '94 cbr900rr - 162 indicated, no idea how accurate... but the bike was smoooooth.

a couple years ago on my '89 GSXR 750 - 158mph via GPS... then the thought of "how old are these tires???" came into my head.

'67 sportster, hard tail, kinda built - 101mph fucking terrifying... the vibrations were so bad i couldn't feel my arms or legs.

old Byrd mini bike with original rock-hard tires... 27mph via GPS... fastest 27mph i've ever gone.

my at the time brand new '94 cbr900rr - 162 indicated, no idea how accurate... but the bike was smoooooth

Probably pretty accurate. On my 95 900rr one tooth up and two teeth down in the rear I hit the governor multiple times at 186mph. I would walk away from GSXR1000 once we got over 100mph. Also hit just shy of 190mph on an RC51 that had a few bucks poured into it.
