Hey VIN, good to see you over here, i've been following your '67 build closely over at the "other place". Did you ever decide on paint, I still have to vote for buff the steel and clear it.

sadly, that's all i got, my '74 IH is getting closer to officially being a basket every day.

not yet, i just want to get a little riding time on it this year and i will decide on paint when the lawn is white. then again maybe a little color to come before then....

here's mine. '06 883R that i'm doing everything i can to for now while keeping it running as its my daily driver. lowered shocks in the back, lowered the front, new bars, new throttle, electrical controls off the bars, new rear tire, front fender as the rear fender, chopped fender struts, etc....

eventually might throw it in a hardtail frame or do a weld on, but for now just riding.....

crappy pic... but my '67 sporty...
XLH kick/electric, CH short frame, 4 over forks, mag, high compression, hot cams, lots of ground clearance.

built in '70 by a guy in Montana, completely rebuilt in 1977 then put in the back bedroom of his house for the winter.
the guy had major health issues and was never able to ride again. bike sat under a quilt for 30 years. came with every receipt and very well documented details about the build, and the guy's plans for the bike. his hand-written notes are awesome, but a bit depressing as his writing became worse and worse, eventually near illegible as his health failed him.

when it came home with me, i pulled it all apart. everything is in perfect condition, except the fork seals. came with boxes of spares, including a turtle tank, another complete mag, carbs, cams, more goodies.

crappy pic, the day i rolled it off the truck and into the garage:
http://lowbrowgarage.com/media/DSC05376sized.JPG

it's currently apart, on a diet, getting the skinny lane-splitter treatment. it's a project with my daughter, who despite being 3 1/2 years old, is already a gear head (score 1 for dad)

well i've uploaded the same couple of pictures of my ol' ironhead in a couple of spots here already. here are a couple from last weekend, when i rolled it outside for the first time in a long time.

it's my first time building a bike for myself, and nobody but myself. the tank was an Aermacchi Sprint tank that i axed and frisco'd, oil bag was a king from bung king. i just wanted to try my hand at building everything, (and i mean everything, except the bars) to my liking.

enough babbling. onto crappy cell phone pics

Couple shots of the Ironhead. Stock frame cut to shit, home made 2-1 with a screamin eagle muffler, oil tank was an old lawn mower gas tank. Cut the end off and welded it back up so the electrics are hidden inside. One wingnut access and it still looks cool. Lotta other stuff. It's tiny now. Pretty fun.

dude.. dont do it.. imo those bikes are pretty f'ing rad for just rollin off the floor, but removint the springs for struts and the rigid mount seat for springs is totally counter intuitive....
Plus those wheels are rad! if anything, slim it up with a narrow rigid mounted fender, lose the big ass fender support brackets and build an exhaust for it... in the end, much cheaper and you will be much happier! just my .02 though so take it or leave it

hey another silver Iron! Looks good what bars are those? And did you just take the speedo off or can I just not see the relocation?

Superfly: I've never even though about getting rid of the nasty fender supports....you've got me think'n man.

I've also been thinking of instead of struts finding a set of Road King shocks. Lose the look of the springs showing and a better ride. I think I want to put a sprung style seat without the springs...just have to figure out how to cover up the ECM....dumbest spot ever.

Would you care if I told you looking at your bike was life changing experience? Dude, I really like the seat!!

I hope it didn't change your life! The seat was an old Drag Specialties seat that I bought off ebay and had re-upholstered by a buddy.

I only say, I don't care for opinions, because everybody has something to say about what's on your bike. If wanted what your suggesting i probably would have already done it. Besides, It's not my place to tell someone what's cool and what's not. It's your build and you have a vision for it.

Like I said before, there are a lot of great bikes on here and I wouldn't suggest anyone change a thing.

What part of Dago are you living in? Just got back from there and had a great time with my wife and daughter. Won't be long until I'm living there again!

Easiest way is to set up a Photobucket account, upload your photos there, and then copy the IMG code under the picture, paste in the text box of your post, and yahtzee, you've just posted a photo. Make sure you use the "preview post" button to make sure it works before submitting your reply.

You don't need a catalog and cash, just a grinder, and the stones to fly it.

I would do that but I literally have 55 dollars to my name. I can't even afford grinding wheels, let alone the bike payments! Plus my truck decided it wanted to fry some wires under the dash so the bike is my main transportation right now for fear of my truck going up in flames. Someday soon once the VA decides to pay me my money.

I hear ya' man, things are tough all over. I took a HUGE pay cut and the wife got a pink slip from the school district.

For right now just soak it all in, when the time presents itself let'r rip!

They are "one off's" my design Slim's handy work. I can't weld, when I do it looks like the bottom of one of my bird cages. I'm a hella good grinder though.

I have another buddy helping me out with the welding skills, I'm actually getting better.

No more changes... until I get my keystone bars on Wednesday, then I clean up the wiring & controls. Then nothing more until I get my invader wheels in about 2 months. This is how I ran my rear fender on my 06 and with short enough (and stiff enough shocks) I didn't have any rubbing, once I got the fender high enough off the tire. check the pics in my profile.

Looks good, I see you ran the front fender on the rear if I am not mistaken. But what size rear tire and rim where you running?

yep, that was the move I made....I used the stock 06 mag wheel, then for rubber, i ditched the stock tire for a Shinko Classic 240 double whitewall in the MT90 size, which is pretty much a 130 or 5" wide tire.

with the front fender, I just cut it in half so I had both halves to work with. And I slowly just unradiused it with a rubber mallet and piece of 2x4 end so that it was slightly wider and matched the radius of the tire better.

Little update. I ditched a good handling Metz, for a crappy sexy ribbed. Now the front ties in with the Firestone rear.

I might bead blast that pretty rim for more of a "vintage" Mickey Thompson Radir look, and leave the lip polished.

BTW-the 0 miles 21" Metz is for sale, pm if interested.
Here it is when it was mounted.

Johnny, your bike is looking great!

My pile that I'm in the midst of re-working. I didn't like the stretch we originally built into the hardtail. Going to shorten up the wheel base closer to stock. It rode great but I just got tired of the look.

Thanks man...I'm with ya' on that stretch. My buddies kept trying to get me to stretch my swingarm. I don't care for the gap it creates.

IMHO, without stretch in the front it looks unbalanced. Keep us updated.

Thanks...

I have a template made for a solo, just need to x-fer to steel and cut it out on the band saw. Then I'll get some foam, shape it and have it upholstered in black diamond tuck and roll.
