I had a 72 chevy van back in "High" sCOOL, It had a most enjoyable Herbal fragrance
amist the Vans comfy interior. One of My H.S. friends had an old ford econline at the time
that was void of all windows (no windows in the rear doors) , It was killer.
Also had some pretty respectable tunes going (for circa 70's era).
Vans Rule.

After spending a light afternoon today helping BFJosh do a mild tune-up on his '72 shorty Dodge, I gotta say I love 'em now more than ever. That thing purrs like a kitten, it just needed a little love that's all. All them good hop-up parts someone spent a fortune on decades ago were a good investment. He just installed some new meats on there too. This thing is getting roadworthy! Post up a pic of that beast BFJ!

I miss that one too eLTee, and I never even saw it in person. I remember the first time you posted that bitch. I have a copy of it in my hip cars folder.

I've even given some thought to painting the Hellbilly Deluxe like that a time or two.

Ah you ought to drive it in all it's V8 leaking noisy hot glory. Suicide knob and all. Rides like a fucking sports car on the freeway. In town it tends to lean too much in the corners and shit flies off the racks and rolls around. My old lady wants to make a camper out of it. I don't think the bed will fit with the tool boxes, air compressor, vise, and the bikes...

This fucking website just went up about 15 points in my priority list... I love it almost more than my own children... I don't know how I missed this thread, but I'm happy I found it.

I have 3 vans right now, 94 econoline with the 351, 92 econo with a 302 (total dog motor), and a 78 dodge B100. None are picture worthy, but hold a very special place in my hart. I could fit my KX125, my boys Xr 100, KTM50, 2 PW 50's and my 4 boys in the back. And at the track you always knew which pit was ours among the sea of Jacked up F350s with puddle of mud blasting on their stereos. And when we stopped at mickey D's for some happy meals I didn't have to worry about people fucking with my shit because it was all locked safely inside our moto van.

And when you unloaded the bikes and put the seat back in you had the most comfortable grocery mosheen on the road! Sure it smelled like premix, but I'd wear that shit as cologne if I could.

One time my wife volunteered at my kids' school. There was no parking spots so she had to park around back across from the playground and walk around the block to get into the school. When she walked into the doors to check in, the office workers were all freaking out because there was a strange van parked behind the playground... No, thats just mine she said... Even after that she still loves that van!

And we love loading up in the van to go shred the skate parks all around the valley. No filling up the trunk with skateboards, its so big they can just pile in the van with their decks in their hands.

Me and my wife even pulled off the road and slept in it trucker style on the way home from VLV one year. The rear plush seat folds down into one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on.

My 75 B100. Love it more than anything I have every owned car/truck/van wise. Not really any plans to change it cosmetically as it sees too much work in and out, just wanna put some wheels and tires on it eventually. No need to put new wheels on it man! those are perfect in my book!

prefer the suede high-tops.actually had a 70' Ford 3/4 ton that rocked the peg board interior from the previous owner (plumber).my security system was a lifesize cardboard Steven Segal holding a shotgun.backseat was a beanbag.it was fun to launch my drunk buddies to the rear of the van who forgot the front passenger seat wasn't bolted down.

a 1964 VW Microbus Deluxe 13 window.
Took me 4 years to restore, replaced the bottom 12 inches all round and did all the work myself in my shed with help from my friends

this is how I found it with the original owner

It's a beast...a '77 Chevy G30 4x4 shortbase. It was painted metal flake blue at one point. Needs work and TLC, but I drove it home and it starts right up. Carb rebuild and a new radiator and it should run like a raped ape.

No, its an company that outfits full size vans called pathfinder. back in the day, i think they are out of business now, they would convert your van for you... any make, although i have only seen a handful of chevys, mostly ford or dodge. i dont think anyone makes a 4wd van other than the old astro's

No, its an company that outfits full size vans called pathfinder. back in the day, i think they are out of business now, they would convert your van for you... any make, although i have only seen a handful of chevys, mostly ford or dodge. i dont think anyone makes a 4wd van other than the old astro's

Still in business. Quigley 4x4. They did the astros too

It's a mini Clubman Panelvan.
It's my baby!

Thought the body looked Mini-ish! Never saw that front end treatment here in the States,I like it a lot!! Very cool ride! When I was a teen(in the early 80s) we would cruze this section that had 4 lanes going in one direction and it made a loop. Well we would screw around and race each other and there where some real good ones there. I had a 69 Cougar 351w 4speed,My friends had a 70 340 Cuda and a 440 71 Charger R/T but there was this1970-ish Mini Cooper that a mechanic at the Import repair shop owned that gave us fits!! This thing was pretty damn quick! It wouldnt best most of the muscle cars but would stay right with them on their bumper!!!It would also pull a hole-shot on you from a dead stop that was pretty impressive! That car got a lot of respect from everyone. My guess would be it had to be a mid 14 second ride on the 1/4 mile easily!

Hey Jim,
Yeah back in the day mini's did alright on the track, well on a track with some turns in it anyway.
When I got this one it had a worked motor but an average body. Fixed the body up and now I have a nice little ride. I would like to get some pin striping on the bonnet. Something subtle in burgandy I think. Next person to say " how do you fit in that thing" or "it looks like a hearse for a midget" is going to get a piece of my mind :)

I just picked this up today. 73 Econoline. 302, with a 3 on the tree. Shifting is wonky as hell, linkage is screwy, but in general it runs good. The shag interior and wood panelling are probably on the way out though. Plans call for a fresh coat of wax on the classic lace/panel job and clean the slot mags up. Maybe a little rake, new raised white letter tires, side pipes, and bike tie downs in the back. Stoked.

Sure does. Is that a '70? I yarded out the siezed 307 in it and put in a mildly built 350 four bolt. It's a lot of fun, and works well for my shop. I use it to haul long sheets of metal. I got it out of Lewistown, Montana. Pretty much just a shell with suspension when I got it. I was so stoked that I had it on the road and doing 100 miler trips on the highway within three weeks!

My first van was a 1972 VW Camper van. Drove it from NC to SoCal when I moved there back in the day. Another machine I miss. Any clapped out cargo van is the perfect rig for traveling with or without a bike. Lock your shit up, out of sight.

So I have never been a Van guy. Bikes come first, then trucks. Vans were never in the mix. WELL. As I finish up my chopper I was getting ready to start on a project 1966 c10 I had been looking at sitting in my driveway for over a year. My wife is pregnant, and I decided to trade the old project truck for this ready to go van my father in law had sitting around. It will get more use (I have a nice new F150 for driving the baby, hauling and snow, and a chopper for the rest of the time.) The old truck wouldnt have gotten used much even if I had fixed it up, but this van is gonna be my family mobile. Road trips and camping here we come!
