View Full Version : How much do you ride?

I know it varies for everyone, depending on life/weather/location/whatever. But on average, how much do you ride your beloved scoots?

I don't own a car, so If I'm not walking or borrowing the wife's car my bike takes me everywhere. It sucks sometimes when its a torrential downpour and you have to cancel appointments, but oh well. I honestly couldn't say how many miles I put on a week, but it seems like it would be kind of high.

And no, this thread wasn't started to show that I'm a "tough Guy", I'm just curious about everyone else's riding habits.

Have at it....

When I first got married my only transport was a BSA 441 . I rode that bike over 300 miles a week . Now I don't own a bike that runs so I don't ride to often just when I fix a buddies bike .
The wife on the other hand rides the piss out her bike and I just drive the van !

My bike is my primary transport, so I ride it everywhere I go. I have a truck that just sits in the driveway waiting for a rainy day (which in CA doesn't happen often).

28 mile round trip to work at least 3 or 4 times a week. Once a month trip of at least 300 miles. Not nearly enough though.

Quite f'ing true. I ride as much as I can, but with the amount of rain we've had around here lately I can't ride much during the week as I can't be showing up to work soaked. During a week that I can commute I bet I can get at least 300 miles in, if I'm not commuting then it's more like 150.

It is 108 degrees here today, so we don't ride as much as we like in the summer, but we still can ride year round.

So I ride 2-3 times a week. Pretty good IMO having a wife, 2 kids and a job as commitments.

every day all year - no 4 wheel transport.

riding over 30,000 miles per year between the bikes, what with commuting 70 miles a day and then all the fun stuff on top of that

As often as I can. I have a company supplied truck that I put an average of 40,000 miles per year on. I try to ride every weekend, but sometimes I skip a week or two. It's been over a month (tanks out for repair) and I'm DYING for a ride.

As much as possible. Weather, job and life in general don't always leave alot of room, but ALMOST EVERY OPPORTUNITY IS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.

i'm averaging around 150 a week, unfortunately its mostly in city riding. But every so often I get to get out of town.
The rain has been brutal around here and kept me off the bike quite a bit.

I've only had this bike for about three weeks, but I've been riding it every chance I get. I rode to work every day last week, but I only work three days a week. Still, it's a 40 mile round trip ride through homicidal LA traffic Monday through Wednesday, and anywhere else I need to go the other four days of the week so far.

Was riding to work every day since i got my bike. But i got laid off saturday(so happy!!). Now i will still ride it every day but now because it gets great gas mileage. Don't know how many miles i ride it but i do know that i have put less than 3000 on my truck since i got the bike 6 months ago.

I rode my other bike every day to work, before I got laid off last february. And just thursday I got another job, so I can ride again! All that time I was loafing, I got the bugs in my sled worked out. The OL only had to tow me twice!!! Thank god for Cycle Electric.

I try to ride at leaset 4 times a week. However I live right on the coast of North Carolina so the weather can be hurricane one minute and then amazing the next.... but as of right now it looks to be around 250 miles a week.

As much as I can, weather permitting. I ride to work a couple of days a week and at least once on the weekends. I've got a one year old and another on the way, so it's not as much as I used to, but I'd say 150+ miles a week on average.

I HATE when I have to drive my car. Not just because the AC doesn't work and it needs new front struts but because I wish i was riding my bike. I try to find reasons to ride everyday even if it's 20 miles.

trichardson21
08-03-2009, 10:52 AM
My average is 200 miles a week in the summer just gettin to and from work, and around town, 100 towards winter. Sometimes a free day on the weekend bumps it up another 75 miles. If its above 34*F and the chance of rain is less than 60% im on the road year round, what the hell is winterizing? Sometimes maryland is a damn good riding climate.

Usually a few times a week and Sundays we go all day and try to get lost. Not enough,it's been in the 100's this summer in Texas,so I wait till dark to go out.

Ride to work everyday (about 50 miles round trip) that it's not raining like hell (NY) and as much as I can otherwise (weekends and such) Wish it wouldn't rain again for the rest of the summer so I could ride every single day!!!

with a fairly fresh baby, it is difficult to get much riding time in. i mostly do a work commute during the weekdays and during the weekends i try to get a few hundred miles on a saturday or sunday solo ride if possible. on a crappy week my least amount of miles would be 200-300 miles. i just can't ride enough really.

last year I did about 12,500 which is pretty good her ein New Hampshire. This year hasn't been so good. I don't mind riding in the rain, but running no fenders in a downpour pretty much sucks ass. Sooo, if it's raining hard when I wake up, I check ht e weather to see if it'll last all day and if it will I usually take the cage. If it's just spittin' I'm riding!! Wish I lived in an area where I could ride year round and get rid of the cage all together, I hate that fucker.

I don't own a car, just 3 running bikes.

I'm like a dry drunk , I havent rode in ...4 er 5 years , I sit on my (somewhatly recently aquired )bike in the driveway, and imagine I'm flying down some windy back road in the country side.... BUT Soon, All of the Planets, the Stars , Moon and Sun , will be aligned with the equator, and the Triple, and my ass will be rolling on down the road again. I'll hopefully be hitting around 100 - 300 mi a week ( If I can keep most of the bolts in it ,and the damn thing doesn't blow within the first 100 mi )

here in Miami, I ride to work every day. I don't ride much on the weekends because I'm a hermit.

I bought a rain suit just so I don't have to drive a car. I've pretty much given up on cars. They are too expensive and you get stuck in traffic with them, they are only usefule for groceries and pooling.
